Sezer Haters, Sezer fans... commit here

Good player Sezer he’s an upgrade at 7 over Brooks who is a 6.

I think Bud Sullivan 7 and Fainu 6 will be the halves by mid season though. Sezer will end up a mentor and cover for loss of form and injury which is inevitable.
I have always wanted Brooks to go 6.

Look Sezer played 6 for Gold coast and a little bit of 7 for Canberra. It was mainly Sam Williams though who was the normal halfback.

I just don't get it, pick a James Maloney, Brett Kimmorley or a decent NR7 to mentor. Not a 6. heck it's the same Brooks mistake.

I personally love this signing. With so many young halves coming through (Galvin, Fainu, Large, Matai) having a half who has been in so many different situations, played finals and been overseas. His mentoring will be priceless. It is a one year contract with a second year MO.
I mean it is a very smart signing. It bridges the gap between Fainu who is possibly too young or Sullivan who is both young and inexperienced. It could be a great signing or just a mid signing. But I am on board the Sezer train.

I forgot to mention all the kicks into legs or over the deadball line and the short hospital passes or straight into somebodies head just ask Kepoa enough said no more Brooks from me.
Wrong optiond maybe (can not be statistically verified) but a lot of the criticism of Brooks/Tigers kicking game is just statistically false.

Tigers ranked 3rd last year for repeat sets.
Brooks led this stat for us (10th in the comp)
He was also 4th in the comp for 40/20s
Only kicked the ball dead twice this year with just 4 additional kick errors.

Our most damning kicking stat was last for total kick metres.

Sezer didn't play a "little bit" of 7 at Canberra. he was predominantly partnered with Blake Austin and then Jack Wighton. Sam Williams was the backup half and Sezer would shift to 6 to accommodate him if there were injuries or suspensions.

he's now additionally played halfback the entire time he's been in England. it's not a Brooks-esque mistake at all. that's like saying Thurston was a 5/8 because he did a few seasons and played Origin there.

Wow, that's honestly very surprising.
It really did not feel that way when watching the games. I guess what we can take out of that is that repeat sets are not as important to wins as they once were.
The 40/20s I believe, Brooks really honed that part of his game last year. Manly are going to kick a few between him and DCE.

Yeah, I stumbled across it when looking up something else and was shocked too. I've always felt that our repeat sets were average and nowhere near as bad as they are made out. I definitely didn't expect 3rd.
Factoring attacking kicks attempted and repeat sets:errors Brooks short kicking game last year was actually elite.

LOL - no that is not the conclusion to be drawn!

James Maloney almost exclusively played as a five-eighth!

Brooks has one of the best kicking games in the NRL. Especially his short attacking kicks, unfortunately we had only 2 in our team, API and Bateman, with the footy iq to anticipate and chase.

Sezer literally only played FIVE games for the Raiders at no. 6!

The other 79 games for Canberra were at 7!

What's summation then?
I'd say that we had an impotent attack incapable of putting up points despite there being opportunities.

You can then choose to blame that on any and all of our halves who were supposed to create the play, the forwards for failing to physically dominate to give the halves time, the backs for failing to capitalise on chances, the coaches for not creating game plans/set pieces to pick apart opposition's.

Our forwards, backs and halves were poor last season hence we came last. The coaching staff weren't good. In fact they were bad.
