Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Does anyone have any idea what sort of cap room we might have left for 2022?
It seems we may be in the market for a "strike centre" so you'd have to think its a reasonable amount
I think roughly 400-500k. And given a quarter of the season has gone that equates to 600-650k over a full season. Enough to buy quality, or front load players like we always do and promote a kid who doesn't play first grade instead.

I noticed this morning that Kitione Kautoga (spelling?) was training with the first grade boys for the first time in a long while. He's a young powerhouse backrower that played wests sg ball last year, Scored about 5 tries in 4 games and then did his shoulder. Hasn't been sighted in a very long time, but good to see he's still at the club and hopefully over his injury issues.

Don't think he'd get a look at first grade, but he'd start off in flegg and replace Mansfield Taylor (not sure how bad his injury is though) and will probably feature in nsw cup at some point. Runs the ball very hard, we signed him from the sharks.

He's a good recruit from the Sharks' juniors where he was a noted try scorer. He's only young so let's hope he gets a good grounding in the lower grades.

Anyone know what happened to the Newcastle prop we signed Justin sometime I think. Hasn't been sighted on ages. ?

Haze Dunster our for the season with an ACL, maybe this is an opportunity to palm off Lee’s love child to Parra.
Frees up some more cap dollars and also fixes our right hand defence.
Wonder how much we'd have pay of his contract? Not against this idea. Edrick Lee is on a train & trial at the Knights and would do a similar job for about a quarter the $$$. Sure there are other cheapies out there too

@Cobarcats curious why fans from out of state support the tigers did you grow up in Sydney?
I lived in Sydney as a kid after coming from Cobar.
I started supporting the tigers when my cousin Peter Provan [Norm Provan's brother] captained balmain in 1969.
Peter even arranged for me to trial with tigers but I broke my collarbone and later joined the Army.
I've been a loyal supporter of the tigers since then no matter where I lived in Australia or in other countries.
There are a lot of interstate members on the Forum, eg Western Australia and Queensland

They won’t offload him but if they did we would be paying a decent amount of his contract

And that's where it becomes unworkable; if we're paying 50% and still need to replace him, even on minimum wage, it is almost back up to the same value. Doesn't clear enough cap space to make it really attractive/viable.

Good to see he is still involved with the club. Was expecting to see him named in Flegg when they put out the squads out earlier on. Talented young player!

Likewise i was hoping to see him named but when he wasn't i figured someone else had given him a run. Look forward to seeing him in flegg this season, one to watch for sure. Keen to see how he goes against bigger opponents before getting too excited. Big kids can often dominate in the youth ranks relying on just size/power, but as they progress they need to add fitness, agility and work rate to their power game. Certainly adds something different to our flegg pack

Yeah definitely need to see how he goes taking the next steps in Flegg and then against men in Cup. I would much rather see him in our system having a shot, than anywhere else.
