LIVE GAME Trial 1 v Manly

The forwards didn't get mauled in the 'main game' but I agree they need to show more aggression.
Wait until the next trial Tiger because it should be as close to our side this year with AD and DL to come, if they don't do as you say, then you and I might have to strap the boots on 😁
You bring the Defib machine and I’m with you!

I thought you said you don't like people who swear GNR
Not in every single post, no

First time contributor to the forum but very long serving Tigers fan and Tigers member. Was compelled to sign up to say this, after one trial match I can't believe how many negative comments have been posted on this trial game,
I understand the pain of the past 10+ years, however we as supporters need to get behind our team and encourage them, there is a long way to go in 2022. so less of the negativity and more of the positivity. As always at the start of every season I am optimistic. Go the lads in 2022, here is your chance to surprise everyone with a great year.
Don't sweat it mate. This goes on every year here during the trials. Some think it's the end of the world, some think it doesn't matter because it's just a trial. We have been flogged in trials and made the top 4 and flogged other teams in trials and been rubbish throughout the year. The only guarantee you will get is the the same debate will happen next year.
I hope your optimism is rewarded, for all our sakes.

You can't ignore the lack of talent in key positions and expect us to make an impression this year or any year - until we buy, develop, unearth - whatever you do to attain them - some genuine footy players who can lead the rest and or execute to get results. All the genuine premiership contenders have them. We have plenty of decent FGers who could slot into other clubs and hold their own but as a team we are full of weaknesses. Hence why most judges have our coach's head on the chopping block, and the team pegged for bottom 4 finish.

Am I right in saying that our youngsters were younger than Manly's? How is it that a team that pretty much won the comp last year (Jersey Flegg) can struggle so much in first grade?

Surely one of two things happened in the second half - our team was much younger and inexperienced, or our development from flegg to 1st grade isn't as good as Manly's...I'm learning towards the first option.

Last year we smacked Manly in the trials and went crap. Maybe this year we're building a bit more to round 1? We're definitely more experienced, stronger side than last year.

Things I liked from the first half:
- Stefano looked great and dented the line
- Gildart looks the goods
- Offloads from Simpkins are much needed (if Twal can through that in to his game he'll go close to playing Origin)
- Peachey gave us more versatility

Things I didn't like:
- Tamou really isn't quick enough to make good gains - great leader and adds value, but we really need our young props to step up and take his position

You throw in Laurie, Hastings, Maumalo, a fit and firing Roberts (here's hoping) and that's a squad that's good enough to do damage. I'm not a huge Madge fan but I hope he can lift the team - he can't blame the cattle anymore.

Dillon imo demonstrated more than enough to confirm he will be a very good player for us once he has more experience. I am very pleased where he is at in his development. Remember, Tedesco was not a complete player when he first came into first grade. I recall Warren Ryan giving him an unflattering nick name the game he played at Leichhardt on the wing

Couldn’t you argue coaching would have some blame? Generally speaking if you shut down Tom Trobejovic you generally shut down their team. Easier said than done of course but yeah

The best teams in the comp can’t shut Turbo down, so what chance do we have.

My Points from the trial
Madden is a speed hump and not FG material
LL and Kelma were the 2 best players in the first half (Losing Both)
Gildart looked lost, may take time
Our right edge is still like paper rice
I actually think Brooks will have a good year and Hastings will be a great foil

Thanks Furious, well said.

just watching the highlights of the match,

randomly noticed that the nrl has not bothered to update our logo yet on the live scores/timer in game

I don't like the Nofoluma no try call. It's got to be viewed in real time not slowed down. Forum had a chance to tackle him and didn't
