Tigers eye permanent move back to spiritual homes at Leichhardt, Campbelltown

Campbelltown has room to grow and modernize the stadium. It needs some serious work though as the member's seating is extremely uncomfortable. That's where our future lies for the majority of games, but it needs some serious investment.

If we can also link in a COE-style facility, like the academy that they are talking about, that would be brilliant. It would give the team our new base close to the city, PLUS an option to get out of the city to train on the home turf. It doesn't need to be the extent of our home COE, but something where the players have what they need for recovery and gym.

Leichhardt still needs to have games though, even well into the future where it sells out every game. It's got heart and soul that you can't replicate - it gives the tigers brand something special that other teams don't have. What if our base grows and not everyone can fit? Then it makes it even more special with a packed stadium.

9 and 3 is the right mix. or maybe 8, 3 and 1 for a country game (i.e. Tamworth).

I was pointing out the differences for the sake of context.
I know but its pointless - i could just as easily say imagine if Campbelltown Stadium was a 30000 under cover seat stadium and we were a successful top 8 team every year. My scenario is just as much pie in the sky as yours.

Campbelltown already has plenty more going for it than Leichhardt…except the history.
It still remains unpopular.

Whats you thoughts on Homebush boony - why is it your pref?
My preferences is we maintain the current arrangement and if we are pushing for a 30k stadium anywhere that its at Homebush - think you build it their you can share with Dogs and Bunnies and then push any big games to the big stadium if likely to exceed 30k.

If you looked into a crytal ball I think you'll find only 6 super staduums in Sydney shared by 2 clubs.

Yea its a no win situation personally i would rather they play at Stadium Aust. Its funny but when we started out in 2000 it was a pretty even mix between LO and CSS. It wasn't until 2005 when we decided to sell our soul to the highest bidder that we became the nomads of the NRL. 17 years on and we are still fighting about it.

Nothing better than going to Leichhardt and not being able to see the corners of the field, lining up forever to go piss in a dungeon and lining up for half an hour for a beer. Obviously you hate Campbelltown. You could move Leichhardt next to a train station with a car park and it would still not be ideal to properly watch a game of footy. Balmain knew this in the mid 90s when they bailed to Parramatta stadium. I still enjoy going to Leichhardt but as a venue to watch the game I believe it’s massively overrated

Clearly not a member...it improves the LO experience x 10. Would recommend.

I voted on the move to Parramatta in mid 90's. It had nothing to do with the issues you raise. The ARL were applying a set of criteria for inclusion in the comp (Pre-SL) and one of the criteria that had to be met was accomodation for corporates. That was the one thing that could not be fixed for LO at the time.

You would notice that as soon as the ARL criteria were not an issue and Balmain had to fight for survival during and after the SL period, they moved back to LO, and so did the crowds.

My apologies if I’m wrong on that matter. I don’t know a lot about Balmain history

Leichhardt oval has great history for Balmain fans. Not Wests tigers fans, some of our most depressing losses have happened playing there. How many must win games to make the finals have we lost there? It’s Balmains spiritual home not the Wests Tigers

LO is the best. Best viewing of the game. I'm not there to sink piss .

Don't like cambo, can't see too well at the Hill, cheaper seats are ridiculously close to each other.

Not sure about the expensive seats, Don it once and think it's better, near half way line and stands but are $$$$.
