It's disgusting and it shows how well Putin has played the west, even though it has been obvious for years.

When was the last time that anyone from the West stood up to Russia and their bully boy tactics.
JFK over the Cuban missile crisis, and maybe Reagan bankrupting Russia causing the collapse of the USSR.

US and allies have been very vocal that there will be no ground support for Ukraine and Ukraine has basically said we can't possibly fight Russia. There is only one possibility- Russia gets whatever it wants.

Any single life lost will be a badge of shame to the entire humanity. Need to sort out whatever you can via diplomacy.

How would you like to be Poland, Hungary, Slovakia or any of the other countries bordering Ukraine? You wouldn't trust Russia or Putin in the slightest.
Putin sounds like Hitler after Austria, Czechoslovakia etc "I have no further territorial ambitions in Europe".

I'm afraid the western world doesn't have a leg to stand on after Iraq and Afghanistan. I understand the differences, but they were done completely out of self-interest.

The US also is a complete mess these days after Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon and what he has brought to the surface.

I'm afraid guys, a Russia and China dominated world may be our reality in the future.

The CMC was different to the current situation. Jack inherited the BOP fiasco from Dulles and the CIA and was livid after it. He organised the Cuban Study group which included Bobby. The Cubans were worried about further invasions so they had help from Krushev and installed a missle site for a preemptive strike. Have a read of Bobby’s 13 days. Wonderful insight about how Bobby was able to talk to Dobryn and vice Versa In diplomacy. A big reason why I work in public service now.

This situation in Ukraine is everything to do with The Ukrainian Govt and it’s blantant corruption. Playing wacked geopolitics with wanting to join NATO etc they’ve been propped up by the US for years now. Few days ago I noticed the Ukraine acknowledged the Minsk agreement. Sorry mate but too late.

It’s over for the Ukraine. Was nice to see the fireworks and celebrations in Donetsk (no media mention of that here in the west of course) etc yesterday. Those poor people on the border have been shelled by Ukrainian forces for the past 8 years. Glad they have peace now they can reunite as majority are ethnically Russian.

Easy tiger. The Russians just want Ukraine, they want a sort of buffer against NATO and it’s encroachment along its borders.

You’re right though re Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen funding the Ukrainian Govt for the past 8 years not to mention interfering with the political landscape of literally almost all the Stans in Central Asia.

All this could have been avoided even a few days ago if Ukraine had agreed with the Minsk agreement and declared they won’t join NATO. It didn’t happen so as they say an error doesn’t become a mistake until you refuse to correct it. Ukraine stuffed up

OK. I thought you were accusing me of cultural bias. If you were, you'd be right of course. We all form opinions and views that conform to our overt or covert biases. I hope your view trhat Russia only wants Ukraine is correct. But, while even that would be contemptible IMO, recent history doesn't fill me with confidence

No I was accusing you of cultural bias. We need to look at it outside of our own western lens. And see it in a bigger global geopolitical picture. If we don’t then we only have a narrow view of the whole story. There is no hope of more countries being invaded. It’s not going to happen. Like look at the political landscape around the area. It serves no purpose. It’s a non issue other than more Macatlrthysm style red scare.

Yes true. America is weak atm, that’s a given. America don’t have the gonads to do anything. Looks like Communism is growing again. And the West, dictated by the minorities will just report, make online statements and put their heads in the sand. Lets see how this pans out, will get much worse before it gets better. Some scary times ahead, we have to be weary of Hitler 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0. And it’s a obvious who these 3 are.
