Good performance by the team. We showed some intent and aggression in attack and defence and I thought all the players went well. Really liked the look of Rua and our attack was impressive. Hastings looks like a good buy as well.

I think our edge defence still has question marks but let’s see how we go once the season starts.

Jackson Hastings, so good. Looks like he's got bricks in his feet he's so slow, his face looks like he's just been in a UFC bout and he's hunched over and plays like a 60 year old. But so crafty, gritty and intelligent in his play. Particularly love how he reads the defense on 5th and not afraid to run it. Nice soft pass for players to run on to. And he frees up Brooks allowing him to play a bit of a Jerome luai type role. He's the first player I'd pick next week. So impressed, hope it continues.

There was effort for 80 minutes so i am happy with that.For what was only a trial i am pleased

3 things I've taken from that.

1. Ngatikaura needs to be given a deal yesterday
2. Jacko must be starting halfback
3. Defence is still rusty as hell but with what is closer to our top 17 we were in it all game. Yes it was only a trial, but Easts still fielded a very good side and they hung in there and ground out a win.

Much more aggression in defence..promising at times in attack ..a lot to build on with combinations more time together..

Hastings competes all game. He'll drag the team over the line with him.

Also credit to Luciano. I thought he'd honestly kick rocks and wrap himself in cotton wool for the Cowboys but he's had a red hot go both weeks.
