Why wouldn't they prioritise Simpkin over Liddle? Liddle is older, had more injuries and is off contract sooner. He's more likely to look at other clubs too probably

Yeah that’s a garbage decision. He should have been suspended. Imagine if Hastings did a knee. It could have potentially been career ending.

The judiciary is wildly inconsistent and has been for a long while. The NRL needs to resolve this asap

They should, but they won't.
JWH is a classic case in point, gets done for a head-high nearly every week but miraculously misses very little game time through suspension. If he's playing for one of the ugly duckling clubs of the comp he'd be playing 1 match in every 5.

Where did I say "They're" prioritising anyone?
Looking at the situation with some common sense...

- WT's may get a good trade for Simpkin in a position we're more short in.
- Simpkin may have better options than waiting 3 years for Api to be done, In hope he ends up the #1 choice at the end of it.
- With Rua and Tannous being groomed as 9's, It leaves us with a bunch of them....
- Liddle plays better than Simpkin and may be the clubs preferred 9 this year, Then Api is here for 2 years... I get that you might think Simpkin would be happy in ressies, But I guarantee you he won't.

There's a heap of reasons I see Simpkin leaving - The only one I see that keeps him here is a contract... And that never works any other time (With a player or a coach)
Plenty of clubs looking for a 9 next year (especially in Qld) I feel the club is getting smarter re: recruitment, And I see Simpkin all dressed up at the front of the lot, And if we get in early enough - We may get top dollar for him.

I doubt we'd get anyone decent in a trade for Simpkin - player trades don't really ever happen, plus he's still just a rookie

Liddle would arguably have more options than Simpkin if he was to look for another club, plus he would feel more entitled to a starting spot compared to a kid

We have a bunch of hookers for sure, we definitely won't keep them all once Api comes

Absolutely no chance Jake Simpkin plays reserve grade for the next two seasons.

Good to have options at least. I could even see us losing Rua with the current situation we have unfortunately

We have more chance of keeping Rua or Tannous for 10 years than Simpkin...
Why lose either of the next crop to keep a guy we might not keep anyway.

Player trades don't happen? Except for the time we did it last year, Oh - And the year before....
at that, If we've got someone that another club wants, And they've got someone they don't want (Or can't afford) it will most certainly happen.

Liddle is a better player as it stands, And probably would have more options...
But he might not want to move state.
Simpkin is a QLD kid, Be sure he'd want to play there... That opens up plenty more options as there are 4 clubs there with no real hooker.

It's all speculation, If I was set to lose one... I would let go of Simpkin. As you said - He's a kid.
But also the player I see as the least chance for us to keep long term.

Its a team sport , there is a game plan too execute , im not knocking Rua he has alot to like about him and he is clearly trying too get himself a top 30 spot , but last night I thought he bombed a chance by ball hogging and was hooked straight after .

If it's speculation that's fair enough but he also has a partner he's been with a while here in Sydney and could be loving life here for all we know, guess that's up to the club to figure out and not us forum dwellers

Direct player swaps are rare yes, one a year is not much.

He needs some work put into him but you can see the potential there in bucket loads. I’m not getting hyped about the cheese comparison of course I can see it, in my mind he’s the one from that undefeated team that has come to the fore first. Plenty more where that came from I hope.
