I couldn’t say better on that performance.. But hopefully he really does live up to expectations. Yep we do need some experience in that position, Api will be good to have around
 
Left an important one off my "negatives"...>Seyfarth and Garner add nothing coming off the bench. Need to fix that

Hastings was good for the first half then just turtled around , doing nothing in the second half.

Laurie is over rated and flash in the pan.

The criticism that brooks doesn’t grab the game is a legitimate one IMO.
You can’t blame him for other peoples errors at critical times , but not using his kicking game to shift momentum or break up Melbourne’s flow is definitely on him .
I feel like he doesn’t want to get out of the grind ,or he tries to get us back into the grind , but he misses that the team is needing him to shift it on its head .
Is that footy IQ ? Or just a lack of trust . I dunno . But he’s clearly our best half , and those saying otherwise I don’t know what game your watching .

We've watched Brooks for years and despite him, being our best half... is a bottom tier half within the NRL.

I believe he has an extremely low football IQ shown with his poor kicking, poor game management and his poor choices on the field.

He'd be a outstanding 6 next to Cleary, Cherry Evans or Adam Reynolds.
 
Simpkin won’t be back for a while, subluxed his shoulder, apparently the same type of injury that Mahoney suffered last year.

Had a cute little speech post game though.

I feel like there's some head noise there with what's expected of him... wants to make Brooks look good and not over step the mark.

Or maybe he's just average, idk.

I fail to see how blooding another half could be in any way detrimental. Unless the plan is to somehow partner Hastings with Douehi and drop Brooks.
