Lack of leadership is why we don't have a good culture

It's a valid point.... if you look at the successful clubs, certainly "on field" culture is driven by star players who have winning attitudes and who lead by example at training and in games. We miss this same of level of leadership where a group of star players when needed can take a game by the horns and lift it to another level dragging the rest of their team with them.
I suppose it comes down to the ability, quality and character of the players in your team. I think we all recognise that in this area we fall short of the top teams.

Leadership is supposed to start in the boardroom,it is not hard to see why we are not travelling as well as we would like

there's definitely a leadership void for 2022 but you'll see a change in this area come 2023. Koroisau will provide a stack of it. Doueihi will hopefully play every game. Hastings will most likely be in the leadership group. Papali'i and Stef will lead by example.

We have been strugglers for almost our entire time.

Great leadership starts from the top of the organisation and trickles down to the players.

Board through to management and then football operations.

I don't want to write off another year

A Civoniceva or a Gallen, even in the back ends of their careers, would have been good. Do we take a punt on an concussion and injury prone Wade Graham? He would provide the leadership, but not sure how much game time you would get from him. Crocker, from the Raiders, is also on the outer, but is also nearing the end and is an injury risk. Not a lot of inspirational leaders at any club, certainly not many that we could lure. Yeo would be exceptional, but is out of reach.

Its a tough thing trying to fix the culture of such an underperforming franchise like WTs. The only thing I can think of atm is that we need to learn from our mistakes in bringing in busted players like the Tamou's and Wade Graham's of the world to try and lead or promote culture change within our club. These guys couldn't care less about about our club, their hearts and care factor always lie where they made their successes. I know its early days but guys like Hastings are the ones to lead this club. I don't think you need to have played 250+ games or won a NRL GF to be considered a leader and promoter of culture change. It's a mentality and desire to compete. Hastings has that winning quality, wears his heart on his sleeve anf doesn't appear handle losing well. Enthusiasm and an attitude of no more excuses is our way forward. Old heads, on the way out, looking for a payout isn't where we need to be looking.

Blame boardroom and others as much as you like....the culture comes from the team and coaching performances....When you have certain players thinking they are better than anyone else because they have been at the club so long, thats the start of the destruction...think Potter ,Farah....think Brooks,Noffa and Madge losing the dressing room...etc...
If the players all played to their huge salaries, got on with their job, bonded as a team and had some pride and dignity for the club and colours then maybe we can have some form of good leadership and culture...
Its great to have a standout leader, but who wants to put their hand up if the whole team aint on the same page.....

And we had that problem for quite some time....

Phil Gould had some truthful but unkind words to say about Wests Tigers after he sacked Cleary from his Penrith coaching job.
He told Cleary he could do much better than to go to the Tigers. Cleary came regardless. 😂

Yes he came regardless and left us in the crap...if he took on the job he should have done his homework...not jump off the bus when the going got tough...

Maybe our blokes should get on the nose candy like Munster and Cheese..works for the Storms..
I’d argue neither of those guys are a leader at the Storm.
Welch, and Hughes are serious about their footy and the team likely follow them.
Cheese and Munster are window dressing.

🔥

+ talents like Papz and Grant.

Such a dynamic roster.

That’s a nice cliche but what does it actually look like?
What actual behaviours or outcomes should the board be espousing that will shape our players on the field?
