Crowd

I have general admission membership and was jammed up in the corner, my mates and family came and were charged $40 for a general admission ticket and the drums were rubbish.
With rising petrol prices and interest rates about to go up I’m afraid some people will have to make some choices on where their money goes and going to watch a side that’s been so poor for a decade won’t be high on anyones list.
I was actually surprised by how many Melbourne supporters their were at the game. They were louder than us on plenty of occasions

Big numbers. Shame the commentary standard wasn't in keeping with the audience numbers.

Bums on seats.......Just at home rather than at the game.

This is the problem from so many losing seasons - I know heaps of people who said they were going to watch from home because they didn't want to go to the game because they were afraid we would get touched up

The bookies had the game at $4-1. Not bad for a club predicated to get the spoon against a top 4 team.

I find that quite remarkable - must have been a lot of Melbourne fans expecting a win and a lot of optimistic Tigers fans. Can't imagine the ratings when we actually become successful on the field.

I have no idea if the numbers are accurate, just quoted from the article. If they are accurate, I think it just confirms what I and others think; that WT has a very large following - maybe even 2nd team status for a lot of people - I honestly don't think Storm have a large following - if the numbers are true I also think it reinforces the whole narrative that plays out on here that WT are continually the "victims" of media baiting with crap, nonsense stories because they know they will get a large click through - gold for them.
 
The Parra v GC game, which was touted as the game of the round (which it ended up being), had a lot of empty seats too, when the cameras showed the stands. It costs too much to go to the footy, even without the cost for fuel and parking or the time lost when using public transport. I am going to the Newcastle game and the first few seats I looked at were $58 for an adult - and they weren't very good seats either. I've opted for the $48 ones, but imagine I'll be looking into the sun. $30 to sit on the grass as the GA option. Needs to be half of this cost to get close to full crowd numbers.

Agreed I just bought tickets to Origin 1 and it is on the corner bay 102 and for my family of 4 it cost me $662 and when I throw in parking it gets it to $700 before I feed anyone.

It is only that we have not been able to travel that we are going to go and have a night out, but I can understand how a lot of families cannot afford to go to the game.

I paid $40 for an extra ticket for last weeks game against Melbourne on top of the two full season memberships I have already, however this was on the end of the field when they had better seats to watch from but they were up to $70 which is ridiculous.

If you went Andrew John's grandstand lower bays, wear your sunnys.

Pricing is insane eh.
$48 for an adult.

I remember the old days when it was like $18
 
Not saying pricing isn't expensive but really good coverage, ability to watch it later on Kayo, watching it with commentary and different angles etc is also a big reason why people choose to watch from home than go to the game.

The oldies 70+ might still be staying away from the crowd whereas most middle age and younger generation like watching it on technology. I try go to 1 origin game a year and couple of WT games a year, only for the atmosphere. I prefer watching it live or delayed on Kayo so I can watch and understand the game in peace.
