Daine Laurie #237

No one is alleging they did anything wrong, its an attitude thing. We got pumped and to add a bit of fuel to the fire, a couple players were at the pub the night before. Even if they don’t mention them drinking, the pub itself draws negative connotations. They could have easily been at a restaurant, but that wouldn’t not have made the news, because there is no negative way to spin eating dinner.

Maybe they can ride scooters before game day to unwind

Not sure if everyone is aware of this but it is in players contracts (i know for sure for international cricket players, not sure about NRL) that they can't play any other sports or do stunk seeking activities while employed (so for e.g. they can't go bungee, sky diving, car racing tracks etc). The only exception from memory is golf and table tennis.

Jimmy is injured every year, how’s his preparation? Few clubs have let him go, wonder why? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…
Hows AD,TT,AJ,Liddle....at least he had a go when INJURED....
JTJ doesnt cost us much, add up whats on the sidelines then have a whinge....

Its not a mystery, its widely recorded. Drugs and alcohol. Your point?

Struggling to see how playing the pokies for a couple of hours contributed to a leg injury.

Finally Benji sticks up for the club and gives it to Kenty.
The players probably did what a large percentage of players do and chill out in different ways.
If we won there would be more said about alleged inappropriate touching of a female.
The club gets unfair criticism from the media because they're easy targets.
To stop that, it starts with a better performance against warriors on Friday.
We have to finish that game with nothing left in the tank.
We can bag the team, bag each other on the Forum, everyone has had a gutful, BUT nothing will change until we get a better roster.
How do we do that.
First retain key forwards and backs and build our team around them from the bottom up. [Pathways]
Penrith did it and look what happened.
We need to sign a marquee back and forward and go from there.
I believe we don't have to spend all of our cap this year which can go towards retaining a breakout player or go towards another star recruit next year.
2024 might be closer to the mark now????

My point is low standards as a club. Pascoe signing a bloke with drug and alcohol issues. You take my point?

THat wasnt your point. What does that have to do with not drinking and playing the pokies at 9pm?

He signed on a minimum contract and isnt the worst centre in the club. THAT is the problem. Nothing to do with playing the pokies.

He’s still part of the culture. Comes in with an “I’m only a low paid player” attitude and takes the young blokes to the pub. Would it wash under Bellamy?

I wouldn't exactly use Melbourne as a model club for behaviour, recently white powdergate, admission of Melbourne's drinkfest party culture, the bromich and proctor incidents, and they were the ones who got caught.
Their success is probably due to them bonding so well they would die for each other.
Not condoning any of that rubbish, just putting it out there.

They party when they win
