I love STP one of the most under rated bands to come out of that time… I couldn’t miss the chance to see them even without Weiland - those songs are all time!! I could have cried man… sooo good!!

I saw them with Scott a few times over the years and also saw Velvet Revolver. I was never a huge STP fan though.

I was the first person in Australia to order their first album…. I’d never seen them before either - they were good, very different style these days (they have the guitarist from Helmet and it comes through) weird thing is… I think a lot of his singing was mimed!!
I wasn’t the only one at the show that said the same thing… so that was disappointing.

Well if that is the case I am glad i didn't end up going.

The common belief in music is that you can replace anyone but the singer, but when a band like Zepplin were as tight as they were lose a brother, they can’t do it anymore. I can’t think of another current drummer who is as well known as Taylor was. He and Dave were equal in terms of being the face of the band.

It was so obvious… the light show and the big sound kind of took the attention from it…
He’s not the strongest singer but there was a heap of songs mid set that were flawless… consistent volume, pitch perfect despite him running and jumping around and had this weird doubling effect on them. Then he went solo for glycerine and finished with comedown… his voice vanished for those 2 - even when you could hear him, it wasn’t great…
Was quite obvious (although I was surprised) all up… didn’t expect that type of thing out of a band from that time

Taylor’s style was perfect for Daves songs…
I remember when Taylor worked on the Coheed album… His style didn’t work for those songs at all for mine - although drumming was great and Coheeds songs are their songs all the same. Just didn’t go together at all…

Problem is - the best drummer to replace Taylor Hawkins in the Foo Fighters - is Dave Grohl.

There’d be a dozen nobody drummers on every street corner that could fill the spot - not sure it would ever be the same for us, certainly won’t be for them.

Not only the banter, but Taylor’s ability to take the microphone and for Dave to get behind the drums. I remember last time i saw them, Dave got behind the kit and first thing he did was play the start of Teen Spirit. I wet myself a little.

Travis Barker would have to be up there for well known drummers (great drummer too).

Just that opening strikes of the drum are exciting.
 
Seen them 4 times and Taylor was the star of the show. What a damn shame and hopefully Dave and the boys get through this and keep on going.

I think you guys are right but hope you’re not. The main thing is the remaining band members and their families get the support they need to get through this. I know documentaries are edited and all but it definitely seemed like a big extended family

they just never seemed to take time off, no long breaks between albums and touring etc. They seem very tight knit.

They have family bbqs when they’ve not seen each other for a bit… Taylor and Dave especially…

To the point I remember Taylor having a story when he was first night alone with his first born - he called Dave to come over with one of the kids and hang out…
Being worried about being on his own with a baby for the first time…

Rolling Stones, SCG, 1995 I said for a long time was the best gig I’d ever seen. That was until Foo Fighters at Homebush around 2012 I think. 3 hours, 7 encores. DG the complete showman and the on stage banter pure entertainment. Taylor Hawkins such a loss. Will take time to recover. If that’s possible.
 
Not a foo fighters fan but knew this guy and Dave were the heart of the band and very charismatic folk.

Another big loss to rock music.
Thoughts with the family, friends, band mates and fans.

Foo Fighters aren't in my top 5 favourite bands but their live shows are amazing. Up there with some of the best shows I have seen.
