Jock Madden

Last night when Peachey was in the bin and Liddle was off the field I was thinking here we go, we finally get Brooks at dummy half - he got a handful of plays and then Liddle came back on
I thought Brooks' service from dummy half was pretty slick. Choosing pass left, pass right or pick it up and run is probably in his comfort zone. Madden at half with Brooks rotating in for him and Liddle.

brooks could learn a thing or two from the last tackle kicks off madden. Im so sick of his lollipop shallow kicks. Besides that madden seemed to demand the ball a lot more and steered the forward pack nicely last night. Tough break on that last play hopefully that isnt the memory that sticks (but probably will be). He does lack creativity, but hey so does the other block whose played like 15 times more games and costs like 7 times more, reckon he'll come good over time hope he doesnt get the shaft when other blokes back, but judging toa's treatment he probably will. Brooks should be considered at 9, despite everything hes got a dart pass off the play the ball that for some reason none of our 'specialist' 9's can do with their abysmal service
Madge might be playing 4d chess. Keep all the quality players for next year out of the firing line on light duties. Let the dead wood wash away throughout the season.

Similar to Brooks but he costs less and could have a longer career in front of him. Don't make him the savior though.
He has a much higher ceiling.
We've seen 9 years of Brooks failings.

I am very confident this is Brooks final year at the Tigers.

It's like he has a few options in his head, doesn't pick one quick enough and then just screws it up.
Yeh call it lack of confidence, not backing your instincts or even not having any instincts.. we can't let those chances go as we don't get many in the first place. He needs to play touch football for a bit

We have to try different things. Our spine is pretty bad. I don't have the answers but I expect it fixed when we start getting consistent minutes out of Doueihi and Hastings. I also can't see Brooks being the answer but let's see what Madge does.

A great headache to have is having Harry Grant and Brandon Smith on the same roster that can cover hooker. We’re 0-4 with the worst roster in the comp. There are no great headaches.

I think Jock is looking every bit a first grader.

5 games in and he is getting better each game, plays with confidence and is involved more then most rookie halves.

His kicking and running game started to come through last night and he really looks like a half back that is worth sticking with.

I like him. Hope that last play doesn't affect his confidence.

He will get over his brain explosion. Welcome to NRL Wests Tigers style.

We are no chance of signing a quality half at this time. AD and Hastings at halves would make us even slower then we are now (if thats possible). As iv'e said previously Madden has played little football in the last 2 years, he will get better with each game. He is young , quick , has a good kicking game, and has been a star junior. Maybe the suggestion of Brooks at 9 might work, but Hastings lack of speed is a worry at 5/8.

Brooks is still at WTs. If you don't like it, hit the road and you will not be missed.
So is Madge but that doesn’t seem to stop you. I guess we can add hypocrite to the many ways to describe you and your agenda. So practice what you preach and take your Imp, your crappy woodwork and your toxic enabling up to Newcastle.

Never ceases to amuse me when supporters accuse other supporters of being the reason why the club sucks. Like they are the ones making the decisions.

All we know at this stage re the halves is
1)Hastings is the key to our playmaking/organisation/leadership in the near future.Sure hes not quick, but he has a lot of positives which can make a difference
2)Madden is not out of place in NRL,but clubs wouldnt be falling over themselves to buy him.Id give him another year to see if theres any upside.Id totally forget that last play yesterday..it cld have happened to anybody
3)Brooks is a wonderful defender, but totally lacks any of the Hastings qualities mentioned above, and whether its $950k or $750 k(probably somewhere in between) were paying him...hes a significant part of thecurrent problem rather than the solution. He needs to go at season end and Hastings/Douhi/Madden become our halves combo..and groom a young gun or two
This season is totally lost..always was..so neeed to shuffle the deck to move forward

I know this sounds harsh, but so far Madden has only shown he knows how to lose a game not win one. He needs time, particularly now to see if he has it in him to balance the ledger. Brooks will cost us too much to move on, so our best option is counseling to get him to enjoy his footy. They’ve started relieving him of some responsibilities, his halves partners are doing more kicking etc. surely he must realise that if his form drops off his price tag and attraction from other clubs will also diminish.
Why do people always and continuously feel the need to make excuses for, pander to and work around Luke Brooks woeful Rugby League performances with and for this footy team? He just does not have it in him to deliver what this team needs to succeed. His Rugby League IQ just isn’t high enough to serve up success for this club. He does try hard, I understand what some people see in him but the results eventually have to speak for themselves? Do they not?
