NRLW to get its first Transgender player next season -Updated

I don't feel comfortable with a male taking the place of a female in female sports. Nor do I feel this is necessary.

They can make whatever lifestyle choices they like and should be able to do so unencumbered and without ridicule, that's being inclusive.

But inclusivity in competitive endeavours needs context and in my opinion, sports are gendered for a myriad reasons and there is no reason for it to change, as unfortunate as it may be for this individual. Afterall, they are not being excluded from the sport, just a division to which they don't qualify.

Well the issue the nrl may have to deal with is a case like Lia Thomas who is beating all the biological women in swimming. It opens up a can of worms. No right or wrong I suppose but it has the potential to be very controversial as it causes an imbalance of competitiveness when someone was born a man.
But than you also have hannah mousey who went to the Olympics and failed to lift the weight

Sorry if this is a dumb question but why don’t we have a NRLW squad? I saw we signed a few players like kezie apps and Jess Sergis then I saw sergis play for the roosters last weekend?

They gradually introduce new teams into NRLW so it gives the women's game a chance to develop rather than create a competition with a huge talent pool of players some of whom aren't even close to being good enough to be playing against the really good female players.

E.g. there were only 4 NRLW teams to start, now there are 6 and it'll keep growing.

While the NRLW comp (the national comp) isn't running, the women play in their respective state comps, so the Tigers (with Sergis, Apps etc.) are in the NSW Women's Premiership which has teams like us, Cronulla, Mounties, St. Mary's, North Sydney etc. but the really good players from those teams would play in the NRLW with teams like Dragons, Roosters etc. as that's the main comp.

But the eventual plan for the Tigers would be to have an NRLW side either end of this year or next.

Hope that's not too complicated lol.

Question. If a trans athlete plays in a women's competition, will it be a level playing field? If yes, let it happen. In not, don't.

“If issues of performance advantage arise, we will seek advice on the application of those laws in the particular circumstances.'”

Why? To see if it’s ok to discriminate?
Reminds me of the Hannah Mouncey case. Hannah 6’3” and over 100k, competed with men. Then changed to a woman and killed it in every sport, including AFL initially passed all the tests, low testosterone etc. but when Hannah excelled it became a bridge too far, and therefore apparently time to discriminate in the opposite direction.

Great explanation.

A lot of people were wondering how players that were announced as signing for us were playing for other teams.

Wake up.
Physically, men have it over women in every way.
The discrimination is to female athletes.

Transgenders have an unfair advantage. Why do you think it's not allowed in the Olympics?
Actually...it IS allowed in the Olympics...NZ heavyweight weightlifter in Japan last year...
Noone have ever medalled, but its a matter of time in power sports
Its a very prickly issue to say the least
