Salary Cap Proposal

Funny really, there’s already a scramble for the 15yo’s who show some talent. For some reason the Roosters are better than other clubs at recognising and signing this talent, so they want to brag about it as well as get rewarded? Lawdee!

What a load of shit. That’s not development that’s just early recruitment. The relief should only come if the player is brought in through the clubs jnr development.
I beg to differ.
We’ve been doing the same for decades.
The ‘development’ part which we’ve never succeeded in is providing the environment and structure to ensure they have longevity as first grade players.
How’s our ‘development’ of our talented juniors coming along?

My point isnt about what the tigers did or don’t, it’s about development. If a club isn’t developing jnrs then it shouldn’t get any relief.

The best run clubs will adjust and thrive under any new rules they bring in. No amount of tinkering with salary caps and/or a draft will make us successful as we'll still have the dance people running the club.

there needs to be more dispensation for local juniors. 10% first year and then 5% every year after that is a sham. if PVL wants tribalism as he so very desires, give clubs 20% dispensation. if players stay on for 10 years, hell, give them 50% dispensation. the chooks are great at recruiting these players late ala Walker & Suaalii, but both Brisbane and Souths should've been given cap relief for bringing them through the grades, not the chooks.
