Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

There are no 'available' Cowboys backrowers of note who would bring the same impact that Leilua has.

One player at the Cowboys who has been stuffed around a bit with potential to be anything is Daejarn Asi. If the club could arrange a player swap deal and get Benji to mentor him it could work out well.

I’d honestly prefer papalli to stay at parra this year get more developed under his belt in a great system then come to us a better player
I took it (the comment) as a suggestion to that's what our response should be, seeing as Cowboys weren't taking us serious with our demands.
They were unwilling to atleast give us like for like - offering Robson in exchange - meanwhile re-signing both Nanai and Luki despite our requests for either.

GREAT SCOTT AS DOLPHINS AND BRONCOS SQUARE OFF

THE Dolphins and Broncos could find themselves locked in a derby battle for the signature of Cowboys playmaker Scott Drinkwater.

Sport Confidential understands three NRL clubs, the Dolphins, Broncos and Wests Tigers, are keeping a close eye on Drinkwater as he faces a fight for regular NRL action in North Queensland.

Drinkwater started the season in Queensland’s Hostplus Cup, with Cowboys coach Todd Payten opting for a halves pairing of Tom Dearden and Chad Townsend. Drinkwater returned to the top grade last week after an injury to Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, scoring a try in the Cowboys’ narrow loss to the Warriors.

But when ‘The Hammer’ returns, Drinkwater faces relegation to reserve grade. The Broncos, Dolphins and Tigers rate Drinkwater’s playmaking ability and have indicated preliminary interest to his management.

The Cowboys have told Drinkwater’s management they have no interest in releasing the 24-year-old, who is contracted until the end of 2023. But Drinkwater naturally has no interest in languishing in the Hostplus Cup for an extended period.

COWBOYS MOVE TO LAND LEILUA EARLY

The North Queensland Cowboys have attempted to capitalise on the Wests Tigers’s dysfunction by requesting an early release for Luciano Leilua.

Leilua signed a three-year, $2 million deal with the Cowboys for 2023.

According to the Courier Mail, the Cowboys reached out to the Tigers to see if they would let Leilua head north early but the request was knocked back.

It’s not the first time the Cowboys have attempted to secure Leilua ahead of time.

The Townsville club was prepared to take him a year early, bumping the deal up to $2.8 million over four years only for the Tigers to block the move.
A big difference in Cowboys asking for an early release for Luciano, than him asking.

Looks like the Knights are finally going to get Milford as they formally put forward a proposal to the NRL.
NRL still want to check the security footage of his latest indiscretion.
I had a sneaky suspicion that a desperate Madge might have looked into it [ or Sheens]
I personally would have reservations about this hot and cold player.

Peachy and Roberts should serve as cautionary tales.
