Our juniors dont come through the grades as well seasoned as some from other clubs. I just dont see Pappy being the same player had he of stayed at the Tigers. For me that means weigh up the talent we have coming through and release those unlikely to make it and target the best from the stronger clubs.

We have already started to do this but in much lower grades and as such the talent is likely 3 years off. The simpkin news is disappointing if true, but Rua seems to be the player most likely to make it and he can play in other positions in the pack to. I like Jake though, but his running and passing games dont look to be strong enough....but is that a deficiency with our coaching in the lower grades?

Im just relieved to hear Talau is still alive. He hasn’t been sighted in over six months.

Simpkin is signed till 2024 and Liddle just got canned for him. Seems odd if true, rushing Rua to back up Api would be a mistake especially since he's got the potential for lock as well.

Hope Laurie recovers his mojo, but with him only on a reported 300k until the end of 2023, bidding 1 mil for munster to play fullback wouldn't be a bad idea.

If True he would be more upside in a trade than Liddle and future retention would cost us more.

It's clear Sheens wanted someone experienced their for a few years.

2yrs v 1yr and age as well. Some clubs would find that attractive over Liddle who has an injury riddled CV and 1 year remaining contract at his age. Simpkin has looked solid but he hasn't given a spark and is really only noticeable when he does a mistake. If we are aiming higher alot of kids show something when chucked in the deep end.

With TT I actually feel sorry for him, he put in last year and we declined the Storm swap for him.

Yeah fair points, Liddle would have at least one suitor as long as he doesn't cop any more serious injuries for the year. Dolphins still don't have a hooker and he'd be cheaper than Verrills since I'd expect we might chip in a small amount.

Simpkin is young and I, maybe naively, like to believe all he needs is game time to develop. If it's a choice between squeezing out him or Liddle I'd keep Simpkin.

With Talau we're in the same boat, hasn't been sighted in forever and whilst capable wasn't setting the world on fire at centre or wing. Could see him never lacing up for us again along with AJ and Tuki.

I thought Sheens was the man when it came to recruitment and retrenchment….so why is Madge doing the ring round. Although considering the names you gave, it would not surprise if your on the money

I got no issue with letting him explore his options. If it’s true, move Rua up in the pecking order and let him show what he’s got to offer for the rest of the season.

I’d say it’s sorry for us as we could have had someone we wanted in the side already but we passed it up
