Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

That would be deeply concerning. Mac has already been sacked by the club twice for being useless, playing favourites and letting his relationships cloud his judgement so we sign mates rather than the best players we can. And he got sacked by the Dogs too. He doesn't have the runs on the board and really should be removed from the club ASAP
Mac isn’t gonna go anywhere, he gets fired Sheens leaves too and if he leaves no one will even come close to fixing the club, Sheens is the only chance the club has of being fixed

Forget about dillon, he is gone, won’t play many games here again, I’m hearing mr Mac has been ringing around player managers telling them there players should look elsewhere, he’s one, Simpkin and talau are others along with the back rower Simpkins. There is more to come. Don’t shoot the messenger.
Doesn’t surprise. Be nice to free up some of the funds these kids are getting overpaid for. What was Hartigans strategy? Buy all the best young talent on overs and hope some of them catch on? Meanwhile only have 2nd rate cash available to sign senior players so we pick up misfits, rejects and redemption stories?
Why did we sign Simpkin when we still had Farah and Liddle was reportedly his long term replacement at the time?
Meanwhile we hadn’t had a fullback since Tedesco and Papenhazen left and no junior prospects at all yet we never thought to try and recruit Walsh instead.
They say Sam Walker is the best young talent to debut in a decade or so, I would say Walsh is pretty close but our recruitment team only tried to sign him after we already signed Daine Laurie. Why?

Why not grab both? We need at least 4 in the rotation who will get regular NRL gametime

In saying that Doorey is in the Blore bucket of injury hit lists
I'd be taking a new approach to signings.
"Would Craig Bellamy sign him?"

I truly believe Bellamy would sign Doorey but NOT Nikora.

Nikora, value / cost ratio isn't there for me.
Need players that benefit the team, not their own bank account.

Tapine, Doorey, Hudson Young, Mitch Barnett, Jackson Topine.

Players that can excell at their own job thus making the every part of the machine which is the team move in the right direction.

@sly post saying Dillon is likely gone saddens me but we're also moving on some other dead wood (imo) brings me joy.

Forget Walsh. He wants to reman in QLD. We won’t get him
but I agree with others we need to get some deals done asap .
Garner to Panthers I’d let him go .Blore gets his spot , he is a keeper , and was fully hit and in the top team before injury 1 week out. , freak. injury , he’ll be back
Farnsworth from Broncos , I’d chase hard
Barnett and Nikora I’d chase hard
need a prop , solid with aggression ( Burgers or Simms ) ps Simms has not signed with Melbourne yet
our team would look very different with this possible line up
Dane ,
Nofo
Farnworth
Olly
Ken
Steph
Appi
?prop. Or Musgrave or if a junior is up to it from with in
Pappi
Joffa. Or Barnett
Nikora
Hastings
Brooks
res , Barnett , Blore , Simkins , Peachey Twal

Interesting around our backrow signings is that it also seems ti be the strongest poistion for our juniors coming through.

All 3 development players this year in O'Kane, Tumeth and Api Saukuru are backrowers taking into account the last 2 have been injured all year , we also have Matumura who is signed to NRL for 2024 who is a backrower, Webster- Mansfield who trained with the NRL side all summer and then unfortunately was injured in the trials,

Blore is 21, Simpkins is only 20 and could still be playing Flegg this year Bray Guryan and Kiti Katoga seem to be the 2 standouts in Jersery Flegg.

Thats 8 young backrowers in our club. I wonder how much they play into the clubs thinking and how many are expected to progress. After all Tuilagi has only started to play well this year at 23. So the others and 2-4 yrs younger

Opportunists, looking for short term solutions..void of any strategic planning. All it does is take the air out of existing players. One of the reasons we are residing in the bottom of the ladder.

He will become an even better player under Cleary's coaching and playing in that red hot Panther's team. I'd like to see him stay with WTs. He has a lot to offer and his versatility is great for the squad. Salary cap wise, it is a smart decision by the Panthers.

I’ve always liked garner . His 2019 form was the closest thing we’ve had to a gun 2nd rower since Ellis

Just like many other players he’s regressed heavily under our current coaching system

I watched Dillon closely in the U20s. He is fast, dynamic and makes things happen but with that error in him at the back at times. I always believed Scolari was the player who had the rounded game in his repertoire - pace, attack, great defence, toughness and that spirit to win Gould often speaks about. It's just my view but Scolari is the one.
