Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Following this weeks recruitment & retention meeting.

Nikora’s delayed/lacking response to the club has been brought to ahead following his management asking for an increase per year on our offer. He’s been given a take it or leave it response with no reply so far, another Sharks back rower in Jack Williams & Matt Doorey from the Bulldogs have been discussed as a target should this not eventuate.

Franklin Pele also appears to be a no go either due to higher offers elsewhere & focus has now turned to J’Maine Hopgood from the Panthers.

Jack Bird is a genuine option from the clubs point of view at the right value but they get the feeling we aren’t a genuine option for Jack, his management using us to hurry up the Dragons, not to say if the right offer comes in it might sway him, but don’t see this going much further.

Joe Ofahengaue has taken up his option for 2023.

Can confirm Sione Fainu is a top 30 player for 2023.

Only a handful of spots remain for the squad next year & lack of genuine targets has the club sitting back with money to spend & see who gets restless.

Sheens is hoping to pull a fast one on the Eels & securing the services of a young winger named Matthew Komolafe.

In relation to RE-signings as it stands only Tommy Talau has a 1 year contract in front of him & Jock Madden is negotiating with the club, the rest are free to find new homes.

Mikaele almost seems certain to be heading to the Dolphins.

Tuki Simpkins & Jacob Liddle have permission to look elsewhere.

Final top 30 spot is being saved for an outside back, the wait & see approach will come to ahead with this in the next 2-3 weeks as it must be filled by June.

Outside back depth/strike power the main focus for remaining 2023 spots, Tex Hoy has been offered to the club by his management.
Great to hear mate sounds like a decent plan 👍🏽 So the club isn’t looking to move on Jake Simpkins like it had been rumourd on here? Thank god

Komolafe...9 tries in 4 games of NSW Cup this year. Seal the deal Sheens!

How have we only got one spot left , tamou , is out of contract is he not , the 2 bacrowers are leaving , mikaele maybe going , liddle will go , garner looks like leaving and Iam sure there 2-3 others . And we have signed two forwards , if we don’t sign at least two backrowers and a class centre nothing will change in tiger town .

What are the chances we sign Matthew Komolafe?

Thanks @THE_POM that is some very encouraging news.

Any intel on the following ...

- Does the Club see Sione Fainu as a Prop or 2nd Row moving forward?
- Any play for Euan Aitken as a Centre/2nd Row given his desire to live in AUS?
- Plans for Dudley Dotoi for remainder of this season? i.e. Jersey Flegg/NSW Cup exposure?
- Any discussion on Tamou playing an extra year in 23 given his recent form or leadership of young group of forwards?
- What about Sunia Turuva from the Panthers if the Parra winger doesn't eventuate?

Sione's future is seen in the 2nd row but comes down to conditioning, needs to build some agility & speed.

Euan Aitken was discussed but nothing has come from it at this point, belief in our juniors coming through more over Aitken, plus would prefer Bird.
Dudley Dotoi was seriously struggling with homesickness early on but seems to be settled now, partner coming down soon so hopeful on retaining him long term.
Tamou & the club in no rush but wouldn't rule out 1 more year if he maintains his form.
The young player from Penrith has not been mentioned to me.

Jack Williams - would be astute moneyball buy, very disciplined, high work ethic, strong defence & very strong in gym, good example setter for younger guys, at very least good backup 2nd Row/Lock, may go to another level under coach like Madge.

Matt Doorey - same year at Westfields as Tommy Talau under Wayne Lambkin, risk is coming back from ACL when we already have Blore returning from ACL, very talented though.

Disappointing about Pele as he is the type of metre eater power type we need.

No to Tex Hoy, would rather develop a Utility within.
