LIVE GAME NRL Round 8 *Spoilers

Live Game Discussion
You can never be certain of a result in this comp. They were definitely Gummy Sharks in the second half going down 3 tries to 1 to the Donkeys.

At the end of the second half when it was 6 all and Hynes nails the field goal with seconds to go the feeling was that Cronulla were coming out in the second half and were going to go on with it, at least that is what I thought.

As far as the much publicized match up of Staggs vs Talaki it was a pretty convincing win I thought to Staggs and I thought that was pretty much expected. I've said elsewhere that teams will work Talaki out and if you give him limited space and don't let him get a roll on you will pretty much limit his effectiveness. Even though we were beaten well by the Sharks even we managed to limit the damage that he could do.

The other big match up between Reynolds and Hynes I thought overall was a fairly convincing win to Reynolds. Poor old Nicho had a shocker of a second half after finishing the second half on a high. It's pretty hard to find too many things wrong with the kicking game Reynolds brings to the table and I can't believe Souffs treated him the way they did and I'm pretty sure they are regretting the fact that they didn't hold on to him at least for another season or two and allow him to be a one club legend.

The treatment of Reynolds by Souffs is really no surprise when you go back and have a look at how they have treated and tried to shop around players like Alex Johnston over a number of seasons, a guy who will inevitably go on to be their highest try scorer of all time.

The other interesting one I think was Nikora. I really don't see the hype around this guy and don't think he's value for money at anything over 450k he may be pretty solid but I just don't see him doing anything out of the ordinary on a regular basis to justify a bigger pay packet.

My thoughts only.

I think Souths wanted to hold onto Reynolds for another season but he wanted more seasons than one.

Liiam Martin, now there is a gun player. That's the type of player I want in our team.
