I think if I was in politics I'd almost be hoping to lose this election. Next few years will be messy .
They are probably like unemployed coaches.

They take any job, even at the dogs.

And they have some plausible deniability, they'll say......we tried but the exchequer was empty. 😆

China in the Solomon Islands is probably the worst thing that can happen to Australia.
I had been thinking for a while now the reason why the head honcho of the Solomon Islands prefers China over Aust. is because he is running a corrupt Govt and doesnt want Us poking around and exposing that.
Then a couple pf days ago "China has been handing brown paper bags full of cash to Solomon Islands Govt reps"...maybe they learnt that from our Sydney Roosters eh?
It's perfectly plainly obvious that China is on the offensive currently.
In any interviews with Chinese Govt people atm it's perfectly plainly obvious how cocky they have become.

Australia fell asleep at the wheel here. Our government definitely has played a part in this and it will irrevocably change the region now. I do believe that Australia needs to have a better diplomatic relationship with China, and I wonder how much of the sabre rattling and rhetoric has resulted in this move by China.

We used to be a player in this region. Not even banana republics take us seriously now.

China can afford to be cocky unfortunately. They are the powerhouse. The US is ailing and on the decline, they cannot project their power in Asia as well as they used to (hence them outsourcing handling of western pacific matters by us,) and we are a part of that past glory.

You're talking about "sensible dialogue" and you're laughing at someone who's exercised their right to wear one? Sounds dismissive to me.

You're not legally required to wear one, she's exercising her right to wear one. What's the problem?
No problem CB but dont give me your garbage Im better than thou crap...I refused to get jabbed because of my blood clot history and most on here told me I was listening to to many youtube channels, yet I laugh at a person who wore a masked because it was moreso why would the other lady even asked her why she was wearing a mask its completely her choice and the lady was interfereing by asking her the question,I laughed at the comment that came back to her, and you and the idiot Pascoe Barber jump to a conclusion that I bagged the older lady with the mask...if your both to ignorant to ask why I laughed then dont jump to conclusions ..

I didn't say anything about your history, so I am unsure as to why you're bringing that up as that isn't the point of discussion. You're talking about sensible dialogue but laughing at someone who could be wearing a mask for a litany of reasons and didn't actually volunteer her opinion but was prompted for it. I also didn't say or imply you were in the wrong either, as you are legally fine to not wear masks.

I still wear masks at the shops because I have a 4 month old at home who nearly died at birth due to birth defects that affected her breathing, and will still continue to do so until she is a year old. You want to have a laugh at me?

You still mustnt have understood my explanation so I will laugh at your response quote"you want to laugh at me"...
The older lady wore a mask in the supermarket...another lady told her she doesnt have to wear a mask because the mandates are lifted....I laughed at the older ladies response because the lady questioning her and telling her its not required has actually interfered in the other ladies free choice to wear a mask whether the mandates are lifted or not..
more or less saying you go for it if you want to wear a mask nobody should tell you not to...ITS A FREE CHOICE ...same as you CB...
So once again I give you credit for your intelligence and your support of me when I went through a tough time in my life...I admire you for doing what you think is right and I will stick by what I think is right...you gave an example of your 4 month old you wanted to protect,I wanted to protect my partner when she went through cancer,it didnt matter how much I tried to help and keep her safe she got rid of me when all the hard stuff was done and now has another bloke in her life,so what Im saying if the good Lord makes a decision it wont matter how hard we try we will end up with the cards we are dealt..

On that point i agree,i could not imagine anything worse than Palmer or Hanson having any say in out countrys future.Even the greens whose heart is in the right place should not hold even the slightest amount of power in our parliament
Greens = mostly good 🙂 Palmer = bad 😈 and Hanson = mostly bad but some good 🤔

I know we've butted heads recently a bit, but understand I do mean it when I say that I am genuinely sorry to hear that your partner did that to you.

That's an extremely shitty way to treat someone who stood shoulder to shoulder with you during your worst times.

Some of the stupidest people I've met have attended university. Going to uni does not equate to being intelligent.
Yes and I did not say it did. Nor did I say that someone going to university meant that they were smarter than people who did not, nor that not going to university meant that somebody wasn't smart. I responded to his stupid comment that said people who go to University are "closed-minded, indoctrinated and dangerous", which is a pretty sweeping statement. I pointed out degrees that have little or nothing to do with the social sciences where I assume this "indoctrination" happens but apparently even those people are somehow "indoctrinated" and know nothing other than their "craft".

They don't have to raise taxes just get the big corporations/mines/etc. to pay their fair share like the rest of us. In fact, with the revenue raised by accurately taxing those corporations, you could conceivably lower taxes for small and medium-sized businesses plus all individuals and still be ahead. But somehow, some companies can make billions in profits and still pay zero tax. That's the real issue.
I wonder how many $$$ the big no tax companies donate to the political parties funds, therefore they are basically untouchable.

There's as much non-compliance with GST as this is with most other federal taxes. Howard and Costello's promise that the GST would get rid of the black economy was a porkie and they were warned of it at the time.
John Howard said "there will never ever be a GST under my watch"
I'm mainly a Labor voter but I liked Howard.
How long have politicians been telling bare faced lies for.

Nelson I do appreciate your input,I think you speak common sense more times than not...I would like to say as far as the Uni educated go,I worked extremely hard over a 3 year period at Tafe at Broadway,I was registered at the Gazebo building in Harris Street Ultimo to do my business course which was Accounting and Organisational Pshycology..
I dont consider myself as anyone better than the next because my train of thought is "your life is what you make it",I have friends that went to Sydney Uni the same time that I went to Tafe,I ended up becoming a Hotel Licensee and worked in hospitality for over 45 years from bar person to management level...
My friends however completed their Uni whether in the form of becoming a Dr,dentist Lawyer or whatever,90% of them went to other forms of work, one become a bricklayer earning heaps a week and the other became a horse trainer in the racing industry...So for everyone that thinks you can get what you want because you went to Uni isnt always the way in life...As I said "life is what you make it"you meet a lovely lady she becomes pregnant and all of a sudden your a family man making ends meet the best way you can....just food for thought for those that think they are better than the next fella...

Magpies, I think it goes back to Roman times and the birth of democracy. I've worked with pollies on both sides of the chamber and a majority of them are nice enough but, when it comes to capacity for an untruth, all sides of politics are equally capable.

It would help I believe if we didn't have a two party preferred system, that way rarely would one party hold majority so most of the lies would have to be projected onto the minor partirs the major is in coalition with like European politics.

G'day @coivtny I remember quite well about 55 years ago, an uncle [of my Mother] who was a successful business man in the P'matta area, telling me that he had been offered many years prior to that [so thats some time well before WW2] to take up a position on P'matta Council.
He turned the offer down without hesitation.
His reason...to much dishonesty and corruption.

Smart man, your mother's uncle.

I don't agree with your post but I think the abc is more impartial than they have been in the past. They are left leaning but certain journalists to me appear to be pretty down the line.

I think Speers and Karvelas are great. I would state those two are the best journalists that I know in Australia.
