Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I posted here the other week I was told by a rooster that Keary will get a contract extension then a medical retirement it's a golden handshake preplanned let's see if it happens preplanned cheating the cap the Roosters wouldn't would they šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£
Have a look how many Roosters players retire then slide into a comfy club job the next season, with undisclosed pay packet or job description.

Really? Don't see the comparison myself

Two completely different players and Dwyer was twice the size that O'Kane is.

O'Kane has the same build as Cam Murray. Still young and filling out though

Dwyer was all power
He has obviously seen something that you haven't, a mannerism maybe.
It's just like our opinions of how a person performs, I might say someone is playing well and you say he's not.
I've seen something that you haven't or vice versa so neither of us could wrong, it's a perception that forms an opinion.
Perception is a personal thing that should be respected.
I'm not saying you, but there are a few in this forum who pounce on things like this and a heated debate eventuates over a simple "perception or opinion statement"

I see a lot of discussions on here over who we should or shouldnt recruit, all answers involve varying opinions in regard to age of player, position played or needed and the value of that particular player suggestion ...all valid as the thread indicates...
What I would like to see is when there are great young guys that are heading toward NRL stardom or a good career and have been selected at an early age, some from 15/16 still at school, their physical development has to be a priority, mainly because they still have natural growth and need to be helped along with the natural growth to become stronger as they train and play in their age division etc...
The reason I say this is we can all note a young player that showed huge potential just to suddenly disappear with an injury that he may not recover from (Simon) classic example although his and others similarly are freak accidents that are very rare,Im mainly saying that there are plenty that have had many months on the sideline through injuries,AD,Liddle,Kepoa,TT just for us atm but some have had 2 knees gone,2 shoulders gone,a combination of both ...
I know it is a contact sport and this sort of injury will continue to happen, but Im mainly saying that some of these young guys get very good contracts with good money, however that money seems to be sitting on the sideline and not getting the value that was paid for...
I know people will bag me for my thoughts, but there should be more thought into playing a Kid because of his great skills or giving him more time to physically develop as well as work on his skills...

I'm not exactly sure what your saying TT.
Is it that you just want more time for the kid to develope physically?
What or how are you suggesting the NRL do this?
Are you hinting the age for entry into the NRL should be increased?

Bit like benji and Farah? Most clubs do this I just don’t think have had enough great players over the last 10 years to keep around

Exactly. That's why it's so important to sign Angus Crichton. A current rep player in his mid 20s. Worth paying top dollar
Angus Crichton agreed to terms with the rorters and the deal wasn’t signed because they cannot lodge it with the NRL, it would put them over the cap for next year,ā€
How are they entertaining the idea of signing Munster when players like The Inflictor and Suaali are off contract.
They have to consider other players like Kearey and Sam Walker too.
It's going to interesting watching how the sombreros handle this episode of contract merry-go-round with a few of their big stars either leaving or retiring.
Could Radley or Suaali be on our radar.
I certainly would offer Crichton a contract though.
.

Bryce Cartwright might be worth having a look at. Not sure what his deal is with Parra but now that Matterson is negotiating a new deal and he isn't getting much game time he could present good value. He can play.
He has ability. Haven’t noticed his defence at Parra, which probably means its improved. But at Penrith and the GC it was bad. I think he may have cut out the low % plays this year as well.

I would have no problem if the club looked into Suaali as he seems to be fitting in better now and would kill it at fullback..

the young back at Manly who played in the centres against us Tolutau Koula is a fullback.. or was in the lower grades. He looks like a good player (after about half a dozen NRL games). Can defend, good footwork and speed. He’s the on commentator keep banging on about both his parents being Olympic runners.

The Crichton deal at the Roosters sounds complex ( and probably a bit dodgy) to get him off the Roosters Would be great but unless the Roosters really want to make it happen to a team like the WTs it seems unlikely. They would never let him go to Souths. Probably not Penrith either.
I think FoxSport is quoting the dribblers on 360 here.
ā€
Crichton possibly might go, but they have got a deal with him and they don’t want to dud him.

ā€œIf the Wallabies came up and rugby union, I’m sure they would probably let him go.

ā€œThat talk has been around for a long time.ā€

Paul Kent agreed Crichton could potentially move to rugby union for a similar deal to what the Roosters offered, but explained how the Tri-colours could create cap room.

ā€œFor similar money he probably would,ā€ Kent agreed on Crichton’s potential switch to the 15 man code.
