Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Being cleared is not the forgone conclusion. I read it as tigers want him to be cleared but it’s up to the medical staff on Friday.
When AD was recently interviewed at an ambush event didn’t he say that he came back too early from an earlier knee injury? I don’t think AD will play unless he believes he is 100%

That's fair. We're into his fourth year and imo enough is enough A new voice, better tactics and a fresh face may be the boost we need as a club.

You can use the old "We're into his 4th year" Excuse all you like....
His whole tenure, He's had key Roster positions and large portion of the Salary cap tied up in
overpaid - underperforming players that weren't signed on his watch...

It's the most overlooked Fact on this forum!!
Can someone tell me the collective on field value we received last year from the contracts of
Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer and Moses Mbye?

If you haven't seen the Boost in the way we've been playing of late?
- It's more effort in a team than I've seen in well over 10 years - I'd almost say 15.
A lot of the time you don't get the results you deserve... And that's been us.
We've troubled most of the sides we've played - At full strength, With our squad - We'd have done much better than anyone would've picked - Including us.

Most here would argue our 2 best players are Adam Doueihi and Jackson Hastings - Both signed by Madge and very big supporters of the coach.
The 2 biggest signings we've signed in more than 10 years come next year - Both signed by Madge, And have have history being coached by him.
That has to count for something....
I'm not super sold on Madge - I just don't think he's doing as bad a job as has ever been made out.
Realistically, There's only 3 Coaches in the NRL that I would have over him - And all 3 are no chance.

This downward spiral we've been in has been coming since the last couple years of Sheens, We started overpaying players that didn't perform, And paying overpaid players to play elsewhere at the same time.... For well over a decade.
We dug ourselves into this hole forever - It's going to take longer than 3 years to dig us out.
(Especially when your cap is half filled with poor signings)

Madge is a worker - And a winner.... And it's working - The culture at Wests Tigers of turning up our toes as soon as it gets hard has been in our DNA since we won the comp....
We've tried everything else, It hasn't worked - Surely you can see this working....

Not as quickly as we would like, But what he's doing is working....

See
Given our history Chris should have the shorter odds.
Did Api approach the WTs to play under Madge?
No it was the new Barber Shop in the centre of hair excellence that got him interested they is a rumour doing the rounds that he is going thin on top and is looking at a new style the Pacoe comb over

You reckon? I've tried to backtrack his history to find any inside knowledge or information and found duck egg. So on the form guide, POM is $1.07 would be my guess.

Who cares though, info is info. I enjoy it.

That's popped up the last 24 hours. Who knows..

Nice.

Many of his try assists were offloads close to the line. Doueihi did kick and pass the ball, but he ran straight most of the time and rarely used his outside men. I think that is why he was moved to centre, because he is not yet a NRL level 5/8.

Calling people a liar because you don't understand makes you look stupid. Thinking that Brooks is a better half than Doueihi does not make me a Brooks lover, its is only a small percentage of people that think Brooks is a bad player, which is why he gets paid well and has played so many games in the halves. The people that hate Brooks no matter what he does are the tiny but very noisy minority. They are not coaches or have any professional involvement with the NRL.

It's too easy to look at the stats and invent someone into the player you want them to be....

Not disputing the disadvantage. The good teams overcome bad calls. We aren’t a good team.
You obviously can't see the difference but I can.

The old Wests Tigers would immediately have their heads go down and you knew that they were a beaten side because they just couldn't handle a set back.

Lately these guys are fighting for 80 minutes, which with the roster and injuries we have is all that I could ask of them at the present time.

Remember Madge continually quoting last season, "The Wests Tigers are always in a f***ing game."

Well it seems to me that it may have taken the addition of Jackson Hastings to the squad, but it finally seems to be the case.

You are right in stating that we are not a good team, at least when measured by the overall quality of the players that make it up but we are now developing a harder edge.

While we are still making dumb mistakes and giving away penalties at crucial time that more often than not end up biting us on the score board, increasingly we are often finding a way to hit back and stay in the game, something the old Tigers very rarely did.

I am just as disappointed as anyone that it hasn't resulted in more wins but as long as we can maintain that stay in the game attitude, with the return of players from injury and upgrades to our squad those wins will eventually come and that will see us getting our fair share of luck and the rub of the green from the incompetent match officials.

Wonder how many plays signed to the Dogs to play under Trent?
always dangerous to play a team just after they sacked to coach.
didn’t the Dog win when Gould report-ably took over their training session.
I’m guessing dogs were building to a win and chooks were at 6s & 7s. Gould seized the opportunity to support his view to the board. He’s got a replacement in mind, probably Flanno?

OK, your point is valid and in some cases a change of coach can have a positive outcome. Perhaps it works well for a Bennett style of coach? Then again, how would Storm travel if Bennett replaced Bellamy? Would we see improvement?
How has coach changing worked for us during the last decade?

There only so many coaches that are an upgrade on the coach we have...
And none of those 3 are coming here.
What we have is the next level down from that....

People can bang on about the Cameron Ciraldo types all they like...
But I remember when Trent Barrett was Cameron Ciraldo, I remember when Garth Brennan, Stephen Kearney, Anthony Seibolds were all Cameron Ciraldos.....

Even O'Brien and Holbrook - Wouldn't say they're setting the world on fire...
They were the best of the next as well.
The next supercoach assistants prove to be a myth more often than not...

I much prefer to see some evidence of teamwork, and we’re now seeing that.

I judge the coach by how they represent, how the team is performing now and how we are building for the future.

I reckon Madge represents us really well and I feel our squad is improving without any stupid contracts on the books. Up until recently I didn't know if Madge could get the team performing but they've been great considering the injury toll.

Considering the Injury Tolls to an already well below average roster...
They're certainly sorting the meat and potatoes of the game atm - The Gravy is on the way....

Madge has a track record of playing injured players eh...

Well see what teams named and what takes the field Friday.

Hopefully the right decision is made.

I doubt AD plays Friday tho.

I want AD at 6. I'm assuming if he is named he is ready to play. I don't think it's Madge decision to play him or not play him. If he plays just play him at 6. I can see the point of playing him at 1 as well but I think that is a tougher ask.

I'm really impressed by the team atm. I posted the press conference from last week. People should watch it. Tamou and Madge come across as really professional. They were looking at what they did wrong rather than the dodgy decisions and injury toll.

Hastings has been special. Api and Pappali are coming next year. Hopefully we get another decent player or two but even if we get a better injury toll I can see massive improvement next year.

If you don't have the players needed to compete with the best teams you are not going to be there when it counts no matter who the coach is. You can pick and choose who you think would be better but this job requires a level of mental toughness that could break most people. Ivan ran for good reason. It's not just about who is prepared to have a crack at it it's about who can see it through.

As they should be
- I personally think the refs have robbed us of at least 1 win this year...
Probably 2.
But building an argument or excuse around it isn't going to bring the 2 points back...

We get ourselves, our fundamentals right - We'll earn our results.
Earn the results and the Respect from the refs and the 50/50 calls will start to come.

The respect is already coming from the media because of the way we've been playing...
It will filter through the game...

Post of the year.....
People say they're sick of reasoning or excuses

A new coach comes with a fistful of new excuses, And get a pass on results for the couple years...
F That!!
