Michael Maguire leaves club

“The season is still alive,” Maguire said. “You get a run and you can go back in time at this club where you get all your players back. “We get Adam Doueihi coming back in. We get Alex Twal coming back in. David Nofoaluma flying back in. “You just need to have a passage of consecutive wins and I know it is inside this team.

I found that quote extraordinary and, to be honest, delusional.

AD has not played in ages and is coming off a second recon...

Twal is Twal...a toiler, but has never changed a game.

And Nofa "flying back in"...what on earth. Ken and AJ were two of our best. Nofaluma won't change a thing.

Madge should have said "this team needs to learn to play 3 good games in a row before it does anything else. Four years and we have not won 3 straight...."

The drums are beating louder again, i like Madge but i wasnt a huge fan of his extension at the time. I still think he see's out the season but that is it, i think behind the scenes things will be getting put in place for a transition the only thing that might speed that up is the dogs situation. One thing for certain is the lack of certainty is probably affecting our recruitment and retention.

In his defence as a consideration at least:

I’m not sure what the new assistants are up to either.

It’s not fair to belt into Madge without the full picture.

Which as we know, we are a snowflakes of getting at any given time.

There are both good and bad reasons for the clubs silence and propaganda.. I think it all depends.

No offence but Madge saying we will make the finals is like Morrison say he will change his ways. Political words that won't happen.

You don't want to use the public as a lecture for the players but he could of at least alluded to our forward pack being dominated.

There is talent there but they just played within themselves. Didn't show any aggression. That's on the players and the coach.

I can cop losing. I can't cop players getting paid a lot of money and not give it them all.

Effective use of the bench plays a massive part.
Haven't seen him get one right for a long time.
I was happy for him to see the year out seeing some improvement but we've regressed again.
Send him down the creek. He can wash up in Bankstown for all I care.

It reads as though Tim is trying to not discuss the issue everyone knows is the one that has to be resolved.

Few issues to address. Who to let go out of Brooks, AD, Hastings and Laurie, jockif they are asking for top much coin and if so which juniors to focus on retaining.

Sheens quote "a million clubs are going after them" (our kids)

Also which coach is best to bring them all through.

Sounds like he'll take the bye round to have a good think

You are defending him. Because we were shit before he got here, you're using that as an excuse that he hasnt improved us in 4 years.
Cool story bro
So we change the coach once again in hope he can turn a squad of plodders into a champion team. For the first time in years we have two very good recruits coming for next year, we have a pathway system up and running. I can understand people frustration, but where is this coach who is going to make a difference.

I would run with Madge till at least mid year 2023. Of course if it gets really ugly over the next few months I might need a rethink

The advantage we have is Sheens is overseeing recruitment and retention.

He's not going to say "yeah we are done for the year" after half the rounds are over.

This is what Madge said last year when we lost to Souths in a similar scoreline:

“I need to find men who are going to be accountable for what we’re doing. That’s not acceptable for where we’re going with the club. “Our first half was garbage.”

And that did not turn our season around.

Everyone knows Tigers won't make the finals, you could see Madge's reaction when they asked him that question, and put on the spot, he's going to be optimistic.

Telling your players "yeah we are done for the year" is just giving them another excuse to cop-out.

So it makes no sense to criticise the coach for being optimistic in public, even blindingly optimistic. It isn't necessarily a reflection of what he really thinks or what is going on behind closed doors.
