If you look at his career although in ESL mainly,he was in a premiership winning team, rep player and was touted as a very good centre...now you cant blame Madge for him failing at NRL level, some have it and some dont,I still wouldnt give up on him yet,he needs more time in ressies to get to understand OUR game....

I admire the fact that you still believe Gildart could adjust to the NRL but the counter to that is he spent a reasonable amount of time in reggies in ESL and still did not learn. He just does not have the judgement to play in the NRL imo as he races around in ever diminishing circles and tackles thin air. Some blokes just don't have what it takes and i believe he is one of them

No it isn't.

Read what I said, especially when you bold it..... "have less support around"

If the forwards don't get forward Api will be totally ineffective.
If Papa has no one else around him he either won't get the ball or will be covered with 3 players like what happens to Lucy and become minimal effect.

People can say what they like about are current squad but our NSW Cup players are alot worse and Papa and Api will not change our ways without support.

- 2 of our 5 prop rotation are gone - zero inbound
- 3 of our backrow rotation are gone + 1 on a perm hospital bed - 1 inbound
- 5 forwards with 1 inbound.

Squad & usage wise alone we are 4 NRL forwards short starting and rotations.

Papa and Api are great players to have but unless we put some players around them the effectiveness will not be even close to what we see today

I read what you wrote
- Maybe I just don't think we're losing as much as you do with the players moving on....

To be honest, Kelma has Flatlined - Luch has gone off the boil and Garner will be more missed in the centres than the back row.
That's my opinion on it, Blore more than replaces Garner or Kelma (Take your pick) And Paps gives us 50% more than Leilua..
We're losing Bench players - And they'll be replaced by Bench Players - But we're importing 1st picked, Rep quality players....

And the rest of our 1st choice spine (Whomever that may be) Will have played more than 4-5 games together.

Buzz reckons the board is split on Madge's future. He's "getting mail" Madge's days are numbered, maybe his hours are numbered. Like the skipper on the SS Enterprise, he cannot possibly take any more pressure, then we see Madge as calm as you like.
Must mean Madge is safe lol

He said exactly that at the end of last year. You’d reckon he’d try and verify it more this time before getting embarrassed again.

I'm getting strong mail that Buzz is on the way out at the Daily Telegraph, while Hooper is under the microscope after an internal review into his behaviour on NRL 360 and following bullying allegations on Triple M. This has sent the Daily Telegraph into disarray with the culture to be looked at especially after photos emerged of staff looking unhappy in the lunch room.

Gee this writing stuff to suit my agenda & create sensationalism is quite fun! It only took me 2 minutes too. All of the above is not wrong depending on how you look at it!!! Buzz will retire soonish, staff are always under the microscope that's just corporate life, organisations often look at their culture & most staff don't have a smile on their face all day every day.

That’s how it’s done. Sensationalism backed up by ambiguity.

The Telegraph NRL section and Fox NRL are there to serve each other. Buzz and co go on NRL360, present their unsubstantiated opinion, and then reprint the same opinion as a story the following day. And Fox gets any scoop on anything printed in the Telegraph first. And people swallow the swill up no dramas, it's a good model that keeps the "news" cycle going.

I don't think we are losing great players, tbh most are bog average players.

The issue is Lucy, Kelma, Tamou, Mika & Garner have been critical squad members this year.
If they are out we feel it regardless how bad they might be. They all cover the field, take up min rotations and serve a purpose regardless of quality.

4 are rotational starters for us, 1 is a bench lockin who at least made some meters.
We can belittle it all we like but lets be real we have 1 inbound replacing the 5.
We are still 3 rotational starters & 1 bench rotation player short even if we factor Blore who lets face it we can't rely on for next year with his history rate.

Buzz " I think he has probably coached his last game".
Good old "probably" covers his sorry ass. Whether he is right or wrong he is a gutter snake.

My guess sheens gave the coach 6 months. I think he doesn't like what he sees and will are changes and getting us ready for what is coming.

Probably had a majority board wanting coach gone at start of year and he's said give me until the bye round to make a decision

Just putting this here so we can cross his name off (ciraldo) if Madge is sacked. Via DT

The Bulldogs’ hunt for a new head coach is about to cop a huge setback, with highly rated Penrith assistant Cameron Ciraldo ready to start negotiations for a contract extension with the premiers this week.
The new contacy with have a get out clause inserted in it if Ciraldo gets offered a Head coaching gig.
Same as Fitzy did at the Roosters.

Suffers from alcohol induced amnesia. Can't remember what he said yesterday, let alone last year.
LOL, He made a statement on Monday's NRL360 then asked "what did I just say Kenty?" LOL Its partly a comedy skit.
I get some enjoyment from NRL360, with Kenty pumping up Buzz, and Anasta getting very interested when Contracts or player movement is mentioned.
Buzz sure does have a beef with Maguire though. Maybe being a Sharks fan he is just trying to get his mate Flanagan a job?

Yeah they go out and they lose. Who cares, plenty can do that!

I like Madge and have defended him alot over the years, his passion for the club has never been a question and he is a person I love as our coach. I do think he has been given the toughest gig in the game and we are now moving into for once a blank canvas territory.

Yes he has lost more than he has won
Yes we have gone backwards on the ladder
Yes he has had a massive roster/salary cap bungle that he needed to clean up
Yes he has had to deal with the total lack of pathways development focus
Yes we have zero identity
Yes he has flaws with his coaching style, staff selections, tactics and trust in his playing group

But who else is available that right now could step into this hole and pick us up?

Over the years we have coaches to come in and perform a cleanout then get punted or stay on without giving a crack on the full roster rebuild.

Madge has had to endure a heck of alot, yes he has brought a fair bit on himself as well with his coaching staff selections, roster & player choices mixed with terrible attacking formations as well.

Our biggest focus area for the next 3yrs+ will be pathways, junior & younger player development.

In 4yrs I'm yet to see our juniors or younger players really advance their skills under Madge and this is a massive massive concern. Park recruitment, performance & retention it's more about if Madge can actually coach/develop players in the modern game to the next level - this is something I am really struggling to buy into and is a massive concern for us.

I don't have an issue if he stays but he can't stay with the same support cast (reserve grade/player development/attacking coach), something has to change 1 way or another. Would I be devastated if he left no because I do think now would be the perfect time for a new coach to join one that is focussed on junior / player development.
Something with junior development is you can't just put a program in place and expect to see fruits immediately, or even within 3-5 years. Your program needs to develop over a long period of time and go through multiple generations.

We saw at Penrith with guys like Moylan, Latu, and Cartwright. Imagine if they pinned all their hopes on them. They didn't turn out to be great players. But that's okay, because the program was new when they came through. By the time guys like Cleary and Luai were coming through, the program had been in effect for 5-6 years. The systems that Moylan and Cartwright learned, while similar, would not have been as sophisticated as the ones Cleary and Luai were in.

Right now all we really have is Seyfarth. As the years go by, we should expect to increasingly have more guys coming through who are ready-made for first grade. These guys should have learned and developed within our programs through each level. The final product is first grade, but at each level they learned a little bit more of it. E.g. at HMs maybe they learned about dieting and weight training, then SG ball they learned about how to live as an athlete, then Flegg you are expected to behave as a professional even though you aren't one yet. (just some examples, not sure what actually goes on)

I find this quote odd, and it's been repeated at least once. 6/23 wins. Why the last 23?

Well the answer is if you extend it to the last 29 matches then it becomes 10/29, which is bad but doesn't look quite as bad as "6". There's a magical quality, for some reason, of achieving 10 of something, as if it's much more than 9.

Which is of course retarded, because if you back further again, past that purple patch of 4/6 wins, you get another 1/7 to start 2021, which then makes it 11/36 wins, which is still dreadful.

Just odd the journos chose the past 23 to show dreadful. Madge's entire Tigers record is dreadful, and extensive.
Yep. It's the same as saying we've conceded over 30 points in the last 4 games.

Why use the last 4 games? Because it suits the argument.
