Madge tried really, really hard. No one can doubt his effort.

Game plans? Very poor for a long time.

Winning? Sub 40% since Souths 2014.

Player improvement? Barely a soul improved in 3.5 years.

Recruitment? Almost everyone he spoke to...including lots of "guys who like Madge"...said no. Basically got discards and not much else.

As I said, he tried really hard. But trying hard is not enough at this level.

Madge is very similar to Paul Green...premiership winner with elites (Thurston / Inglis types) but very little else and done not much since winning comps.

Green's sacking has led to the Cows massive leap...

We NEED to get Madge's replacement right and do the same.

I'm really surprised at the backlash. I like Madge too and hope he picks up a good contract either here or in the ESL. But, he's had 3.5 years and it has been pretty miserable following the club in that time. We have been quite bad and the coach is ultimately responsible for performances on the field. It was time for a change. I do agree, though, that the use of the word "terminated" in the announcement was terrible and Madge deserved better.
Cov,

He inherited 15 years of garbage culture and a worse roster.

Were finally playing well with what we have and the Shank him.

Im Livid as a supporter

I know enough about his, and the rest of the board's ability to identify issues within the club and rectify them. They're all ****ed and they all ought to roll. Four coaches since Sheens have not been able to get these pricks to fire up. It's bigger than the coaches, and the CEO and board are not up to it either.
OK then CB. One thing we can agree on is the need to get rid of Pascoe. From my observations he is one of the worst CEOs I've seen. The Robbie Farah fiasco is just one example of his ineptitude.

As much as it is a blunt announcement, I think if we all our truly honest with ourselves this isn't much of a shock.

We have not improved in close to 4 years under Madge. Regardless of salary cap issues, regardless of whether or not we "had the cattle" etc etc...We have not become a better coached club, our players/the culture has not dramatically improved, we have not shown any improvement in our defense or attack in any of our seasons....We are still a club that has a bit of a lost identity...

4 years is a long time to last in a results based environment when you have produced 0 results...

I liked Madge and hoped everything would finally fall into place for him and us, but it hasn't and i don't think it ever was.

They have only sacked him because ciraldo has agreed to the job (told by someone who reckons he has got some info). It’s all about recruitment and retention for next year. That’s why there is a caretaker. Ciraldo sees the juniors coming through and can be mentored by sheens if need be. I hope he’s right.

The whole timing of it is...just yeah....
Thoughts are with you @TrueTiger you gave it your everything. (Not being a smart arse either).

Thanks Madge, you've earned my respect.
Well Lauren I was only trying to be fair to Madge in regards to the garbage he took on,his loyalty to the CLUB and PLAYERS and wanting major change to the rotten culture in the club...
He achieved quite a bit although this year youth and injuries crueled him...
You watch how well they go against Manly this week, especially if our main top 17 are mostly back...I bet no credit will be given to Madge for anything, but they will praise the great decision the club made in getting rid of Madge....P..ss Weak.....

Good to see his hair's starting to grow back already
Madge deserved heaps better from the front office. He wasn't working with the best squad and sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards, and I thought they played better with Hastings in the side .. add Doueihi to that, Api, Papali'i and we will be a lot more competitive.

Madge put all of his energy and passion into that side but never once did you feel like (in my opinion) the club had his back. Shame.

My biggest concern, just before Hastings can negotiate with rivals, the coach he signed to play under gets the boot. Stupid bloody timing to do this before resignings.

Expect to see Hastings, Laurie & possibly few others now not extend their deals and leave next year. Club's 🖕🏻

I hope yr right Mate,

Big wraps on Ciraldo.

They had every right to sack him at the end of last season. But the decision to sack him halfway through this season is appalling on so many levels. Despite the lack of wins this season, everyone could agree the effort being shown on the field was very much improved from the past 5 years. Had injuries and referee decisions gone our way this season we'd be in a much improved position but now all the progress that was being made, especially with the recruits coming next season, is completely derailed. I'm absolutely livid with this club and honestly don't know how if I'll be able to continue watching now that the next coach will just have this same process repeated to him in 3-4 years time while absolute idiots like Pascoe continue to run this club into the ground

Laurie would have had a lot of experience with Ciraldo.

Fair enough, every supporter is entitled to a view. I agree he inherited crap but he's had 3.5 years and our roster is still 3 or 4 good players short of a good one and our culture is still poor. I blame Pascoe as much as anyone though. If one of the two had to go I would have rather it was Pascoe.

Don't believe we will lose anyone tbh.
Madge was always going this week. Just saved a bit of face before Manly result

The rumblings of the Board wanting Ciraldo after the first review were strong. The Club has worked hard for the COE, Pathways, strong juniors and Sheens to make the joint more attractive to him.
