Why swap? LL literally only has a few months before he heads off anyway? Who besides someone not making the fist grade team would swap for those few month. Unless people are saying for getting LL for a few months we should get one of their young talents on a 3 year contract, if that’s the case, why would cowboys agree to that?
How quick some are to write off the season now Maguire has been axed - the same who were calling for his head because we were losing with a significant injury toll. What possible good reason would there be in giving away LL other than to weaken the squad without getting a FG ready player in return? Great motivation for the current squad to have a crack for the rest of the season let alone attract any players to want to join us.

Absolutely right..sends a really bad signal to our other players that we'll sell you out for this season by losing our most damaging forward..
...and besides,we wld only save 4 months of his salary as contracts go November to October
Maybe we release him end August for Cowboys to use in their inevitable finals playoffs and get something for nothing(as we certainly wont be participating)

If North Qld want Leilua, I'd be looking for a swap and cash adjustment for two of their juniors
Tekelu Mene and Ragarive Wavik.
Mene is a super quick winger and is a prolific try scorer. Wavik is a fullback from PNG and represented the Aust Schools with Dudley Dotoi.

We're already 500k under the cap this season, we need to sign 2 more players. Being 750k under the cap doesn't help us in any case.
With Luki seemingly doing his ACL yes they'll want him early to try go on a run, so who are they willing to trade? We need a quality, first grade ready player.

I'm sure these two came to the attention of our scouting system. Mene played for Ignatius Park School and Wavik for Kirwan SHS but are in the Cowboys' system.

Fair point. Wavik is well developed consistent with the PNG population so he could handle the transition. Mene is younger and may go into SG Ball
