Knight hunting another Tigers playmaker
After reportedly making a big play for Luke Brooks in the off-season, the Knights have now set their sights on Jackson Hastings.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported the Knights have had discussions about luring Hastings to Newcastle for 2023.
Hastings is contracted to the Tigers until the end of 2023, but after Michael Maguire’s departure his future at the club remains uncertain.
Hastings’ management share a close relationship with Knights recruitment manager Clint Zammit.
Hastings is currently on a deal worth $375,000 in 2022, but that increases to around $500,000 next season.
The Tigers also have Adam Doueihi and Luke Brooks signed for next season, while Jock Madden is off-contract this year and is looking for a new deal at the Tigers or at an NRL rival.
The Tigers have a mandate to develop the youngsters coming through the ranks, which opens the possibility of Hastings moving on to secure a long-term deal elsewhere if he is not part of the club’s future plans.
That would be a tough pill to swallow for Tigers fans as Hastings has been one of their best players this season.
The 26-year-old has scored three tries and 92 points in 56 NRL games for the Roosters, Sea Eagles and Tigers since his debut in 2014, while he played 86 games in four Super League seasons for Salford and Wigan.

I would love to see us extend Hastings , Let Knights have Brooks and go hard for Burton..
If we could snag CC that might help with Burton but we all know this story ends.. We let Hasting walk early, Extend Brooks and end up with Kimorley long term. 😢

if we lose Hastings if that means we move on Brooks and Douhie and have to go with Madden and Burton so be it

I love Doueihi but this guy is in another class completely. Hastings and Burton as our halves would be killer.
You rarely see a player with his ability. Burton is a lot better better than Cleary or Luai.
Burton and Munster are the best 6's in the comp now but I'd prefer Burton.

Foxsports.com.au has learned Ciraldo met with Wests Tigers key powerbrokers Tim Sheens and chairman Lee Hagipantelis on Monday.
Four-time premiership-winning coach Sheens sold the Tigers vision about the club being an NRL sleeping giant – with the catch being they need the right development coach to bring through the next generation of juniors.

if we can land ciraldo maybe just maybe Burton is a chance but as you said in other posts we need a plenty of new forwards and players

The Betoota Advocate was on hand for a quote from Ciraldo outside the half built gym after the meeting. “It’s a real shit show in there guys, worse that I expected actually..I thought a few of the players here might have been working out but they were mostly just posting cringey selfies on Instagram when I saw them.. not a chance I’ll be back here in a hurry, I’ve pissed more excellence than that joint”

He had no tries and one try assist for about 8 games.

I've watched him more than once this season. I'm not calling him an immortal but there are few players in the comp I'd pick over him. I understand he had a blinder today but I hardly watched it. I expect him to kill it.
Penrith screwed up letting him go. He is heaps better than both of their halves. The only half I can compare him too right now is Munster.
I think he will be a top 5 player in the comp for a while.
You are right in that he has to perform longer term. That consistency matters. Some players drop off.

You’re 100% right.
Our forwards are just absolute crap …. and that’s saying it nicely. Big O has been putting in but the rest are just reserve grade standard.
Big Dallas and Tommy would be turning in their graves and only god would know what sort of conversation legends like Roach and Pearce would be having about some of the pea heart forwards we have on our books.
Its no use criticising our spine when our forwards don’t control the ruck and are continually pushed back.
It makes my blood boil every time I make myself watch this lot.
