What Car do you Drive..?

It will happen one day....the recharging as you mention is the tricky bit
Need to somehow use the energy from driving to keep the batteries charged
I was reading something the other day where an overseas company has developed a road that charges the car as you drive. It was done in Sweden a couple of years ago but that involved putting rails in the road and having an arm run along it under the car. Not the best way of doing it. The new road has coils laid under the road as it is built and provides wireless charging to the car. Obviously in the early stages but i think the plan is to have stretches of road at intervals that provide a top up as you drive. No doubt when it happens in Australia the govt will build it sell it off to a private company that will put a toll on it.

Hi All,
Just wondering if any forum members have ordered the next Gen Ford Ranger.
If so what delivery times are you being told/expecting?
I read yesterday that there has been 19000 orders taken already inc Everest and that people won't receive them until 23. I put my order in a couple of months ago and I don't want mine until July next year.

I gave up driving a car about 6 years ago and went to a scooter. I live in Asia so I do as the locals do.
No more sitting in traffic or parking issues, No expensive maintenance or gas. Costs about 20 bucks a month in gas for 320km range.
I could never go back to driving a car and all that goes with car ownership.

How does that go in the rain?
Loading groceries etc? Good part of the time I agree

@RonDingo
I've ordered a Rav 4 hybrid not expecting it till March next year

@diedpretty
I remember asking my dad when I was a kid... Back in the 60 & 70 you'd see lots of cars and trucks with a rubber strip hanging from the back... I think (failing memory) he said it had something to do with recharging the electricals in a small way

I always thought the rubber strip hanging was to earth the car and prevent static electricity shocks received by passengers.

So you ordered the Everest?
I have the new Wildtrak on order and am being told 16th of July this year.
That is for the 2.0 biturbo though.

It's got under seat storage. Can fit two full faced helmets under there.
Can fit a good load of shopping in there too. I keep spare clothes, towel and swimming shorts in there.
I just power through the rain and get changed at my destination. it's tropical weather so I'm never cold.

That could be partly correct and have heard that before but I thought it also had something to with people believing it prevented car/motion sickness.

It was to stop you getting a static electrical shock from the car also so the guys on the toll collectors getting a zap.

That's what I was told it was for. Didn't work 😂 I got car sick whether it had the strip of rubber or not!

I've got a 2012 Nissan X-Trail and I love it - except foe the stupid spare tyre being inside and living on 7km of dirt road means regular flat tyres!
Hubby's got a 2013 Nissan Navara
Kid's got a 1999 Honda CR-V

Dream car is a fully restored EJ
Well, it's been a while since I was regularly in the forum. Sadly, the exxy got flattened by a tree in a windstorm in Feb 2019. So daily drive is now a 7-seater MU-X, which I love.

But best of all, added to the garage is the 1963 EJ! She's a work in progress, and is currently at the welder's, and I can't work out how to post a pick, but she's a beauty 😍
