Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Assuming we miss out on Nikora and Crichton (as seems likely), we might be better off trying to bring a veteran back from ESL rather than get whatever is left of the NRL offerings. Ma'u, Sione Mata'utia and Sironen are all running around over there and shouldn't be completely washed given their ages...Ma'u might harden the pack up some.

Their all currently coached by woolf.

Agreed. Why not all three? 1 + 1 MO for each
Mata'utia and Sironen are, I think Ma'u is off contract at Hull FC. I wouldn't be signing a coach just to increase the chances of landing any of those blokes anyway, I just think they'd be decent veteran options that should be able to hold their own on an edge.
Woolfe might be the one though. Looks like he knocked back the Warriors. We're aren't exactly attracting Bellamy or Robinson currently, so he may be the plan B? Prefer him to Flanno.

If I offered you guaranteed 8th place in 2023 right now, you wouldn't take it?

No argument that after a few years of qualifying in the bottom of the Top 8, fans would rapidly get restless and adjust their expectations.
Yes of course. Getting into the 8 would be great start.
I'm not suggesting we have to be premiers next year. It's pretty damn unlikely that any team would do a 2005 where no finals were played before and suddenly win the comp.
And, if we hovered in the finals for a few years, building a winning culture, that could be the start of something special. At least we'd be in the finals. Look at Richmond Tigers for inspiration: years of creeping into finals, getting bungled out, before they became a winning dynasty.

My point was, I don't consider it good enough to hover "around" the finals. I could possibly tolerate it after years of being in the finals and having some modicum of relative success. But as it stands, I'm over that.
Our 9th place perennial hovering should be seen as much a failure to us as it would to Raiders, Manly, Broncos or Storm.

Define the business
It’s cherry picking isn’t it, of course all boards and CEO’s are a part of and monitor the business but the opposite is also true. The board and CEO don’t usually micro manage and make day to day decision on every department within the business.

Depending on the business some boards only speak sporadically to upper level management to ensure that they are able to appropriate needed funds or if they are seeking certain permissions for a department whilst giving broad oversight.

As I am sure people more knowledgeable than I am can attest here know, there a many different managements styles, and if you have been mid level management or higher you actually can’t have one style and need to adapt it to the role and life cycle of the business and it the management style needed changes over time.

Agreed.

Do you really think the board and CEO micro manage all day to day decision making at the Tigers ? Of course they don't. If you think that you need to go to the loony house.

It just shows how black and white the thinking on here is. The board and the CEO have to be involved. That is their job.

Sione has copped a few whacks.
Surely not far off a medical retirement.

He was the best of the brothers but now a days, he'd be the one to avoid.

Pascoe needs to be removed from all aspects related to the Football department, and just continue looking after the Financial part of the Club.
Now that Sheens is here thats starting to happen.
I believe he has done a lot for the buisiness model and little for the public relations side of things.
In my opinion he looks like a bum in a suit when doing pressers.
As you said BT, he needs to step right out of camera view and let Sheens and the new coach do all the talking.
