Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

No club wants to do that though. No value to Brooks or us. Brooks is finally starting to talk about a future elsewhere. Shame it hasn't worked out but in the best interest of all we need to help him move on.
Depends how you look at it.
We don't have a better half to replace him atm...

I would bet the farm his "Selfish" Comments in the press are based around
Sheens convincing him to stay last year because AD was out injured....

Just can't justify the salary. If he is the most highly paid player he needs to be our best. He is going to be earning as much - in cap value - as the elite in the competition. It can't sit well with the rest of the team if he is mentally not going to step up and their is nothing to suggest he can.

Him Being overpaid really doesn't bode well for paying him to play somewhere else, And replacing him with a lower quality player though...

Both are wasting money - And we're stuck with someone in the squad not at his level.

Yet we did it with Reynolds and Packer? Your argument makes no sense.
He is the golden child. The next Joey John's. The last piece we have out of the "Big 4". All that hype only exposed how fruitless it is to have junior pathways. We lost the good ones and left with the scraps.
Luke is the face of a failed program.

What does that opinion say about the blokes that aren't playing as well as him at the moment?

Brooksy is probably the most loyal player we have, ok sure his contract could be giving a little boost to that loyalty, but apart from Nofa, who btw threatens to go to the Eels every time his contract year comes around, who else in the team has that loyalty.
I find it hard to bag players like some posters, because it’s a hard slog getting to be an nrl regular.
And as Joel Caine has eluded to, getting into the nrl is not THE destination, it’s only one stop on the career path.
The way to raise player expectations is to raise their profile, build their reputation.
I like to watch the post game pressers, they provide some insight on attitude.
Noddy is always talking up the players performance when the opportunity for him to do so arises.
The one criticism I had with Madge, this year he never did mention any players by name, only ever referred to “the team.” Now, others can form their own view on that but it leads me to thi;k that his trust of some players could have been better.
This Is a cultural issue the club has, it’s crazy to think that a group with a worthwhile common goal cannot unite and drive toward it. Sackings are not the solutions, it only establishes a short term trepidation, not useful if you’re trying to achieve and maintain peak performance.
Brooks only needs to be at a club which has strong admin and can attract and develop a strong forward pack.

True but I think clubs in general try to do what's best for players if they can see that it's not a good fit.

You confuse fandom with reality, Because you can't assess anything logically or without your hate for the player for whatever reason.
- Based on last nights game... Luke Brooks is the best half at the club.

As much as you hate it, That's how it stands at the moment.
Until that is no longer the case... Then he's first picked.
Well, the best half at the club did everything he could to lose us the game

How can you honestly say that when he was the biggest contributor to our loss? 🤣

Outplayed both Doueihi and Hastings - Has been for most of the year...
Made some errors, So did the other 2 Halves on field... Especially defensively.
Hastings is offering 3 parts of nothing atm, hasn't been for weeks...
Anyone who claims the opposite is doing so out of a personal dislike for Brooks.

I don't hold preference - Best man for the job, Gets the job.
At the moment, He's playing better than anyone else in those positions at the club
- As poorly as that may be perceived to be.

Really depends
If say mbye was traded for Hastings you are most likely in front but if it was for peachy you in a no win situation
I’m assuming peach and Hastings are earning the savings of mbyes contract

Sheens is just hoping brooks plays an awesome game to drive his trade value up.
At the moment we'd have to foot at least 75%

Unfortunately no matter how hard Brooks may be trying he is just not the half back to direct a team around the park and has proven that over his time here.
Does he do some things better than Douhie and Hastings - yes
Is he better for the team than Douhie and Hastings - no (in my opinion)
