Isaiah Papali’i #265

The NRL needs to put a stop to this. The NRL is as lopsided as it ever was and smaller clubs get stood over for juniors, recruits etc. I’m of the view it will never change and eventually the league will die off.
Bloody simple idea to action.
Make a player only available to sign with a new club from after July 1 the season prior.
From October to June 30 leave it up to the current club to attempt resigning them and or decide to let the player go to market.
If they are not part of your plans trade them off a year early but don’t allow any signings without immediate transfer in effect to take place until after june 30 of that season.
How bloody hard can it be.

Having old boys fill the corridors is a good thing . Every single club should do this . It shows loyalty in both directions , it shows continuity , and adds the culture .
This next crop of juniors is the best we’ve had since Benji and co . We have to make the right choices. Matamua is a tigers fan , and that generations captain . He’s the Robbie . We now have to find the Benji .
Already have apparently. Give him time though

Brad Arthur just on the news basically trying to make Papali'i feel guilty. Saying they would love to keep him not only for what Papali'i has done for the club, but what the club has done for him.

Also said it is now up to him what he does (sorry mate, but it isn't up to him.......a contract says he is with Tigers).

What a turd

They've basically underpaid he for 2 or 3 years. Definitely Papali'i has done way more for them an he's a dope if he does not realise that.

If that is what he said then that is pretty close to contract tampering. I'm sure the NRL will look in to it. Yea right.

It won't be repeating the Wests Tigers self mocking documentary. That would turned off many likely new recruits to the team.
I don't know what you mean - the two highest-profile recruits Tigers have snared have come since the documentary.

I personally doubt there was anything crazy or unexpected from professional footballers at other clubs about the doco on the Tigers. It's probably very similar stuff everywhere, just more or less wins.

Brad ought to be very careful what he says. You can be sued for inducing someone to breach a contract.

He came across as smug and shifty under that beany. Obviously the Eels are in a lot of trouble next year. This is great news.

Holbrook was just on 10. Highly unimpressive with a stunned mullet look on his face. Dymock is gone, said change needed to happen and they will be after an established hooker and half next year. I think Hastings will be in demand.

I mean this is all a media story, not long ago there was an article:

Papali'i says he is under no illusions about what lies ahead.

"It's a massive challenge. There's no hiding that," he said.

"But to be able to be a part of something, starting from the ground up, is something that I'll be proud of."

The Tigers will hope the arrivals of Papali'i and dual premiership-winning hooker Api Koroisau can help to instil a winning culture at the club, which has not played finals football since 2011.

"I've got to soak in as much as I can while I'm here," Papali'i said.

"Parra is a good club and they have a lot to offer so I want to make sure that I'm not just learning on the field but also off it, so I can take that elsewhere when I do jump in that Tigers system.

"I want to make sure that I look after myself first and then hopefully have people around me (at the Tigers) who will jump on the same boat."

Who will ride the boat with Isaiah the boat boat builder
