Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Going off the origin he's a middle so he has to nail down a spot there.

The question to me is prop or lock. He can definitely ball play in the middle. Is that as a prop or a lock.

I'm warming to Hastings at lock but there is a long way to go.

Laurie has to add some consistency to his game but he might be a good fullback.

The big issue is the halves. Brooks has clearly outpointed Doueihi by miles and miles and miles recently but Doueihi is just coming back from a significant injury and he has a lot of upside.

Hastings is also allowing them both to play a little wider which suits them.

The question really is though are either of them good enough ?

The second big question to me is what about our edge backrowers ? To me IP gets one spot and he has to be here. It's a registered official contract and I haven't heard anything to state that contract won't be honored but if we could get a gun edge backrower it would be huge for us.

Sunday proves our team is competitive even with a top four side. Todd Payten would be extremely worried now as WTs demonstrated how to exploit their weakness on the right. Kepaoa and Toa have the makings of an outsanding centre combination.
Like Kepaoa as a centre toa not so much, yes he scored a good try in support. Just not creative enough for me, I’d go kepaoa and Naden as our centres for now and re-evaluate from there.

I appreciate your reply. I look at Olam and see how well he has developed. Toa imo has similar development in him but he is faster. I really believe if we stick with these too, our centre pairing will be settled. Naden has great athleticism and can finish.

Bellamy you know would work hard with Kepaoa and Toa and they would be a star pairing. We need to make them a star pairing by investing in their development. Lomax would want big dollars to leave the Steelers and that is money better spent in the forwards. Manu was often erratic in his early years. Toa and Kepaoa have both followed the same path from the NZ Under age team.

Not a fan of Naden? Manly game excepted where he sustained a head injury and played on, he's played quite well for us I reckon.

Do you get the feeling Sheens is pulling together another very good team?

Madge has done a really good job recruiting some good players. Sheens seems to be having some influence bringing in juniors.

The big but to me is the signings that Benji/Sheens are talking about are all in my opinion dud signings. The big 3 who left us are just not worth having or they aren't worth their contract dollar especially for our team. These two can stuff the good ground work that Madge has already completed.

You only get so many bullets to fire. If these guys stuff us up I'll turn on them quickly.

They need to add some high quality players or players with something special that our squad currently lacks. They then have to get them to perform regularly.

It's a big ask and it's way too early to think they are going to get it right.

We've been playing a lot better recently though.

We're miles off being a very good team. Even if all these fulfil their potential (which they won't, for one reason or another), we're still miles behind the top clubs.
They have their own promising juniors, and are still able to recruit at a higher level than us for a number of reasons.
It's good that we're finally throwing some focus on internal development, but we're still playing catchup.

If you're thinking this whole Paps thing has me a little 'riled', you'd be right. Another point, if WT let him squirm out of this contract why would we ever get excited about any signing in the future. We'd always be thinking, we'll let him go as soon as he starts squirming. There'd be nothing to get excited about. We've created this monster by letting Moses and Matterson go and then allowing Cleary and Aloiai to break legitimate contracts.
We've got form in this regard and now is the time to draw a line in the sand and say that's it. I really admire the way Melbourne dealt with the Addo-Carr situation a couple of years ago. They handled it really well and came out of it with their reputation enhanced.
Wests Tiger's real demise began when we the club started letting signed players like Moses and Matterson out of their signed contracts. By the way I would not be surprised if Moses and Matterson are two of the culprits whispering in Paps' ears. If Wests Tigers let Paps' off his contract then the standing of Wests Tigers will be much further reduced in the eyes of RL clubs and their players.

We better not even entertain the idea of letting him backflip.

Stuff parra, they'd be desperate. They're losing players and i'm looking forward to see
them start another decline.

We should be. "He's signed a contract with us and we can't wait to have him here
for the next 3 years.Have a nice day."

Yeah i agree we are the biggest mugs on earth if we let him walk, our recruitment was structured around his signing ie letting Luch, Tuilagi and Garner leave.

There should be no circumstances to which we should allow him to wriggle out, he wont sit out 3 seasons, he's obviously got people in his ear once the season ends and he starts pre season that noise will disappear. I wouldnt even be discussing the matter with his management.
