Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Given we've got halves pairing Douehi & Madden last 5 rounds I suggest you don't lock in situation now that you might regret 5 weeks from now !
Just suppose Madden has 5 great games but you've already extended Brooks contract till 2025 .Madden would have no option but to go elsewhere and we might regret this . Just suppose ?
Yeah what’s the rush no 1 can sign any 1 till November 1st any way just concentrate on locking up doighi and Hastings and let the rest sort them selfs out over time

I think you underestimate how much halves are worth on the current market, while 2018 brooks wasn't really elite he was at least a solid first grade half.

Granted brooks hasn't played anything close to that since 2020 so hid market rate is probably around 500k give or take a 100
That’s exactly why the time is cherry ripe to move Brooks on to Newie. They want him so he is in demand, so we should be able to get close to a full contract settlement…as you said people don’t realise how much a established half costs. On the other hand we have young Jock, who if was in hot demand would have be snapped up by now, so we should be able to extend him for a value price, considering he is a no7.

Just simple smart business

I doubt Brooks would want to leave Tigers, now they are on the up, to join the Knights who are in a terrible state and look likely for the spoon.
I think the club would be smart to lock down the spine now as a matter of urgency, otherwise we could be left with that free cap space, because it would create another hurdle for recruitment.
I want to see the club has learned something from it’s inability to recruit, both coaches and high profile players, and are busy removing the objections before they become another problem.

Will be interesting to see how the media portray this - last week Its poor poor IP doesn't want to go to WT - they should let him stay at Parra - no doubt this one will read WT agitating for KT to break his contract with Manly and NRL should come down heavy on WT.
From what has been reported is there an actual contract in existence or was it an acknowledgement that he would be joining the club and after the Pride fiasco last week and Manlys stance on this subject has KT realised Manly are not the team he believed they portrayed themselves to be

Zero tackle has him down as their only gain for 2023 🤣

Madden can sign elsewhere today - or yesterday….
Has been open for negotiations since last November…

Just can’t find a buyer
Over the next week or so, reports like Madden's defection will run wild, generated by the player's managers.
Just a bid to get more money and secure contracts.
Managers don't get paid much if they're unsuccessful. They get sack too.

I guess if KT wants out of any contract with manly he can play the race card , don’t won’t to go there as they want me to wear a rainbow jersey. No different to mental health , when it suits others

Or maybe he doesn't agree with the treatment of people at the MW set up.

Re. the contract extension for Brooks, I doubt he’ll play a traditional HB role, not while Hastings is running the team from lock. He’ll play more of a 5/8 role on the left using his pace to create overlaps. I don’t mind it as long as the price is right. Also creates a good balance with AD playing more of a power role on the right edge. Everyone can see we’ve improved a heap with Hastings at lock. If we can save some $$ on Brooks contract, we can use that to attract some backs with real pace & forwards who can dominate the ruck.
Need to lock in Hastings first though. If we are using Brooks as a second 5/8 and Hastings moves on, we're stuck with Brooks as our general again.
Personally, I'm hoping this is just a front to increase the percentage the other team, be that Knights or Dolphins or Dogs, are willing to contribute to his salary from '23 onwards. If we make the right noises around keeping him, i.e. define his role moving forward, that increases his perceived value to us.

Not to put a damper on matters, but Hastings has significant rehabilitation ahead of him.
