Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Pascoe was just on SEN. Nothing overly exciting - just repeating the lines that we're making changes and focus on development etc.
The one point I did find interesting was his admission that the release of the players mid-term wasn't about salary cap relief, and more about opportunities for the players (Gildart and Nofo at least - Leilua didn't get mentioned). The coaching staff noted that both would be playing reserve grade for the forseeable future, so it was a chance for them to go somewhere else and play FG, and possibly finals football.
Both are expected back next year as they are under contract - though I guess he would say that, even if we were actively trying to move them.
Gildart and Nofo not good enough to be picked in a side beaten 72 -6 speaks volumes about the direction the current management are taking us.

People close to the club have told me the club have put lots of lines out there in the market place, NRL,ESL and rugby. The response apparently has been zero. Once again the leaks in the club might have been fixed and Sheens is telling nobody anything, but while you have player managers and the media it’s impossible to keep most negotiations quite

That is sad but not surprising as i can't imagine many players getting excited about being coached by a man in his 70's who has not coached in the NRL for a decade

Doesn't surprise me. I can't imagine our club's reputation has been lower at any time since inception.
Throw in an extra 30 spots available up at Redcliffe, and I bet McDonnell wishes he was back selling houses.

Do you mean we've offered up players on contract like Peachey, Liddle, Simpkin or that we are seeing who is available?

What you are saying is exactly what I have been alluding to . Rather than discuss who we should recruit and when and cap space etc . There is a reason we are a no go zone . I've heard many in the league talk about friction riddled toxic atmosphere. Sheens has to settle on the 2023 squad but create a brand new harmonious atmosphere and build a new reputation as a great club with a united player roster so it would be better to weed out those who's skill level and or work ethic just won't cut it now .

The problem is the powers to be at the club have screwed the club over. They do not know how to run a successful club. If they were serious about turning the club around.ait would be gone.
7 years of failure no CEO keeps there position.

Given we are starting a new era (coaching, facilities, culture etc), I'd be identifying experienced players looking for a fresh start for whatever reason (i.e. current club has issues, player returning from injury, player with point to prove).

These players must exude professionalism in all aspects (training, game prep, values etc). Sheens did it before with the likes of Scott Sattler, Mick Buettner, Paul Whatuira, Shane Elford, Brett Hodgson, Scott Prince, Pat Richards.

We are increasing our spending in our junior areas and we have just been advised that spending will increase in consecutive years. Also, we have increased our spending to retain the best of the U20s players. Everyone wants to get the pitchforks out for Pascoe but it seems the WTs are in a strong position to provide additional funding for these areas.

We definitely need some experienced players, we can't just run out each week with inexperienced kids. Not much left to choose from for next year but these are the players I would be speaking to.
Matt Lodge, Dunamis Lui, Jaemon Salmon, Herman Ese Ese, Jordan McLean and Taane Milne.

What is this thing lots of you members have about Tim Sheens Age, He is 71, Wayne Bennett is 72, does this make them stupid, after all they dont have to play the game, they only need to know how its played, and these guys know the ins and outs of the game as they both played it in there younger days, if they gave you the job how do you think you would handle it,
And how old are you.

I Problem is there's a elephant in the room and that is --- the perception true or not that the atmosphere at the tigers is TOXIC . Justin,Lee and Tim need to ask and answer this question honestly and only then can you take steps to fix
I'm not sure what you want them to do. Make an announcement that we're NOT toxic? I doubt that will help. If you want it done behind closed doors, how do you know that haven't already?

Is that in a report I can read Paws? 👍
