the facts are that he had 3 years to build/maintain the WT defence, but he actually succeeded to transform the acceptable defence (under Cleary we beat the Rorters, Storm, Soufs while let only 1-2 tries in) to awful.
He endlessly re-iterated mediocre players (Nofoaluma, Gildart, Twal, Seyfarth, Simpkin, Liddle etc.) while never tried any new player (Freebaim, Pole, Diaz, Nu Brown etc.).
If we use your argument, how can you not defend (without be hypocritical) the JT?

Mate if it was just a coaching issue why can't we attract a coach to walk in and fix the problem? The divide between the haves and the have nots is massive and is reflected by results, and players/managers seeing us as a last resort. The signatures of Api and IP looked like a change for the better and then we went and sacked the coach who oversaw it and upset the senior players who we are trying to retain. Our success will only come from the strengthening of the squad and in that department we take one step forward and two back year after year.
