What years are we talking Demps ?View attachment 2474
Lower grade legend, Josh Davis.
Many of us, for ages wanted him to debut... but he never did it.
Use to carve up the cup games.
And what a mullet he had . Great defender, a real ankles man.I had a favorite player who wasn't mentioned much his name was Kevin Hardwick and he played well above his weight and had a high workload for the times
One of my all time favourites - tough as nails he was!I had a favorite player who wasn't mentioned much his name was Kevin Hardwick and he played well above his weight and had a high workload for the times
The corner posts were quite a prize CC.The fondest memories I have of Rugby League moments are:
Trying to climb to the best high spot advantage point of the huge tree at North Sydney Oval as a kid.
Playing tackle on the LO grass with all the other kids before the flegg games.
Racing out onto the field to try and get a corner post before other kids got it.
Talking to my cousins Norm and Peter Provan about footy, Norm trained me one day when I was 13. My stomach muscles are still hurting.
Sooo many more memories.
2009 - 2012 around those years.What years are we talking Demps ?
Of course he did. Was that the old LO before the new stand built ?My favourite tiger when I was a teenager in the 60,s was Keith Barnes and the most exciting moment we beat the mighty dragons by 1 point at Leichardt Oval at the peak of their powers .We got a penalty on full time 5 yards on our side of halfway and 10 in from touch and we were down 1 Point and golden boots kicked it !
I had 6 perfect ones with the games written on them. The corner posts were quite a prize CC.
And about 10 stone wringing wet. Played well above his weight ! Every game !One of my all time favourites - tough as nails he was!
In fact ground went 90 degrees different direction .the little KB stand was opposite the hill about on halfway .yep no big standOf course he did. Was that the old LO before the new stand built ?
Yes I remember both incidents very well. Nev was getting square and decided what better way to capitalise than when the front row had their arms locked. Thanks HalBrowne61, memories are important for supporters, it takes the mind off what’s currently going on ( or not going on ) with the club.
For balance 2 memories,Balmain memory, Larry Corowa’s kick return against Wests at the SCG, 70 metres around all of them without a hand laid on him, breathtaking. Wests memory, Neville Hornery in a scrum against Easts, belting the daylights out of Easts front row from the second row, arm pumping like a piston . Think he may have got the record suspension at the time.
Once again, appreciate it.
I worked with Gary Leo in Finance for a couple of years, good Bloke worked for AVCOOne of my funniest memories was at LO when kids were allowed on the ground after full time. I remember going up to give Gary Leo( former BT prop) a pat on the back and noticed one of the numbers on his jersey was hanging partially off. So I ripped it off, quite a prize, but Gary swung around and grabbed me by the arm and demanded it back. I pleaded to keep it but evidently we were so poor in those days, if that happened they sewed the number back on rather than get a new one.
I was devestated to have my prize taken from me but was forced to hand it over!
Yes, the old grandstand (still there) had the change rooms like broom closets. In fact ground went 90 degrees different direction .the little KB stand was opposite the hill about on halfway .yep no big stand
Was a top bloke, probably a bit too nice a guy to be playing front row. Don’t think I ever saw him raise his hands in anger but a very reliable ball carrier and tackler.I worked with Gary Leo in Finance for a couple of years, good Bloke worked for AVCO
