Salary cap with third party dealings != fair playing field

We really need to leverage the COE and it's location to have any chance of selling the WTs as a "destination club". Maybe subsidise rent for players around the Five Dock area - make it a bit of community for players to socialise. This would work better for the younger, not settled in an area with schools for the kids, aged players. We need to do everything possible to make us as attractive as possible. A great place to train (COE) + subsidised rent in a nice part of Sydney + a community of peers to socialise with + good remuneration, might be enough to get us to start the slow climb up the ladder.

I don't understand why everyone is up in arms about the Roosters all the time for.Good on them i say, if they can keep attracting top line players and be under the salary cap ( yes they are under) whats the problem?, The question we should be asking what are we doing wrong??, so until we can understand how other clubs play the system good luck to them.......
Correct, it becomes obvious that our administration hides its incompetence and mediocracy behind "we cannot do anything, we cannot behave like the Storm/Roosters/Panthers"???
If they cannot do anything they shall go into politics, and leave the administration of the club to the people that can!

The Roosters being able to pay unders for quality players is the very thing that makes it easy for them to keep and buy who ever they want, and make it almost impossible for us to attract the players that we need and want. They abuse the rules of the salary cap to feather their own nest, and make a joke of it being a system to make the competition a level playing field.

It's very naive to think that the roosters and others are not abusing the salary cap. The NRL has proven hopelessly incapable of policing the cap over the years to the extent that the only clubs seriously punished for cheating the cap (Bulldogs, Melbourne, Warriors and Eels) were brought undone by internal whistleblowers.

In any case, the nebulous system of third party payments and sponsorship deals only serves to weaken the cap. This leads to massive disparities between the top and bottom clubs, which coupled with the rule changes over the last few seasons, means more lopsided games. As a diehard supporter, you may be able to endure 72-6 scorelines, but it's not a good spectacle if the NRL wants to grow the game.

The AFL also has blowouts when the top and bottom sides meet, but at least they have a player draft and functioning salary cap. As a result, teams go up and down the ladder with greater regularity.

The Tigers are, for the most part, architects of their own predictament, but that shouldn't detract from that fact that the nrl is a shambolic, nepotistic administration, akin to a tinpot autocracy.

Blocker sums up our dilemma in recruitment
Blocker " Tapine is exactly what the tigers need and id give him over $1 mill to get him
Question to Blocker "do you think he would take it ?
Blocker " NO"
If you offer Tapine $1M it puts pressure on the Raiders to match the offer or let him go.
If they match the offer then they have to release other players.

Everyone is up in arms because the Rorters are cheating the salary cap. They try to deflect that they can pay unders because of TPAs. While the Rorters players do have TPAs that is not their only alternate source of income. The club is not paying unders.

What I suspect is Tim and Benji have tried hard without success attracting top name players furthermore its a struggle to keep one weve already signed
The reason for this are
- Our dismal roster , Our position on the table and our woeful defence
One or two good ones mixed in with our lot won't make enough difference and make the incoming stars look ordinary
- Our reputation of being a basket case of a club with in fighting and a toxic atmosphere
When I look at the board and the composition of all the junior ranks with very few actually called Wests Tigers .
We are an odd mix of geographies , and junior teams
We need to be a singular club to be a powerful club and then we will find recruitment much easier
