Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The years under JT/Go Administration were nothing short of disgraceful/embarrassing and every thing that the club was building for fell apart and we have still not recovered from it. Every player and fan were impacted by that, and any action Moses made as a result of that pales into insignificance in relation to the set back those years caused the club.
I'm not defending Moses performance in that game but I refuse to turn a blind eye to the leadership at the club of the time especially when we see the success of the many who got out at the time, and then look at the position where we are in.
I don't think you'd find many advocating to bring Jason Taylor back though.

It's not opinion, its fact the club was better when Sheens was here
We were alot better when Sheens was here. People sooking about the 2012 season must be happy with the 10 years of pain since 2012.

I think history has shown sheens knows his footy compared to the people we tried to bring in since his left.

Sheens knows his footy and write off Marshall at your own peril. Good times ahead.

“We were a lot better when Sheens was here”…

that’s an opinion…we were 10th in Sheens last year and finished 9th three times since

“ Sheens knows his footy”…

Thats an opinion..

If he is so good, then why was no one else in the NRL interested in him when he was shown the door here 10 years ago …

”compared to people we tried to bring in”

Cleary?

Obviously I'm basing on facts like stats we won a GF, made finals, other factual info and the obyss since his left.

I thought that did not need pointing out. Anyway like I said I'm not interested in talking about people's opinion on sheens 💤

He coached another 7 years here after the GF , and with the team they had I can’t believe they didn’t win another one during that time ….although the players seemed to melt down a few times in some of those semi finals so it’s not fair to solely blame him for those failures…

He did end up being relieved of his duties though 12 months after the last semi final… thats a fact we can’t dispute…

Yeah but when the club been run as poorly as it has the past 10 years I think u should put the finger at the club not the players.
How poorly has it been run, exactly? Backstabbed by a key coach, best player poached by a silvertail club. Memberships at record levels despite the losses, strong finances.

The rest of it is the unfortunate byproduct of being a struggling sports club. Mitch Moses, for example, contributed absolutely diddly squat to any Tigers success, so he would be in no position to complain about whatever else Tigers may not have been doing perfectly.

It boils down that struggling clubs need a win with players and results, otherwise it's an extremely long grind from the bottom of the ladder. Despite whatever Tigers may have done wrong in the past, much of it is from a desperation to be competitive, and the wrongs are amplified when you can't produce on-field results.

Roosters for example have had many serious issues this past decade, but they have the financial and political clout to push them to the side. Sure I wish the Tigers had the same ability to side-step drama, but we'd need a new Super League, Gus, Freddy and Uncle Nick to make that transformation a reality.

So if players are in a rush to leave imperfect clubs, even their junior clubs, then it only reinforces why Tigers, Warriors, Saints, Titans, Knights are so regularly at the bottom, often joined by Bulldogs, Raiders and lately Broncos.

Roosters and Warriors games come to mind.

Had we won those games, I’m confident we cruise to our 2nd and 3rd premierships.

Club selected the wrong coaches since sheens imo.

Don't have to agree with everything Sheens has done since he arrived to still respect him for all that he has achieved. Too many people who are far more credentialed than me to form an opinion of him rate his knowledge of the game - and at some point Im hoping that we will benefit from that again just like we did in 2005.

Just reading( West Tigers News) that RTS has rejected rumours he is moving back to NRL and says he’s contracted for 2023( assume NZ rugby).
Is this another potential signing we can now cross off the list , and move forward ?

The Roosters loss we could have recovered from, we still played a semi and a prelim. But people always remember the Roosters game because it was crazy. That year I felt we really could have beaten the Dragons in the prelim.
The Warriors match was awful, but it was to get into the prelim, not the GF.
Those were tough losses to take.
Having said that, every team that features regularly in finals can point to a few instances where they were bungled out when luck went against them.
We just needed to be there more.
In 2005 we won every finals match convincingly, which is really not so common.
So, sorry to burst the bubble, but it’s not surprising that we didn’t win every finals game ever and anyway, the premiership teams from those years were formidable, finishing ahead of us on the ladder. Even in those years, if I remember correctly, we were not such a consistent side. Benji was in his absolute prime - man what I’d give to have that again.
