It’s been quoted, I’m sure there is even an interview regarding it.
The panthers made the ambitious decision to be the best nrl club in a decades time. Gus said to Matt Cameron in 2012 if we were to achieve this what do we need, you have a blank canvas to create this. The academy was built and the elite pathways was established.
This was a decade ago. I’m pleased to hear our club has finally caught on a decade later.

Fun fact: my dad is from Sydney (now in Perth) and when I was a kid he used to tell stories of his childhood in Lidcombe/Berala (?) and very often they would be about crazy stuff this kid Dennis Bryant did.

Anyway, one night he comes home from work and asks me and my sister if we've ever heard of Kevin Bloody Wilson. This would've been the late 80s. Of course we had!
He says to us "that's Dennis Bryant!".

So he is an old western suburbs kid. Not from Kalgoorlie originally.

Anyway, parents used to get Christmas cards from him and once they went to his house and we went to pick them up. Really nice guy, used to have a very nice 3 story house on West Coast Drive.

Will never forget a Rodney Rude appearance on the Don Lane Show. Seemed Don didn't know a lot about Rodney. Rod appeared wearing a foam rubber hat of an erotic design which he proceeded to wobble back and forth while talking to Don. I thought Lane was going to have a heart attack.

Simpkin is 20 years old. Frankly, at a better club he'd be getting minimal game time if any. He needs more time to develop. Even Harry Grant came to us at 22 and had much bigger wraps on him than Simpkin.

I don't see anything in Simpkin that would suggest he'll be anything other than a solid first grader if that.

Rua Ngatikaura looks a better prospect in my humble opinion. We might get a chance to see him play in the World Cup for Cook Islands.
