Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Haven't watched it yet but I imagine it will give people something football related to debate!

29 spots filled. Only 1 more player to go in top 30.

I find Pascoe too progressive and flamboyant in his leadership style for a team that isn’t delivering on the field at the moment. But he’s toned it down and has knocked this one out the park for once with a more humble and measured approach 👍🏻
He’s worked in some extremely reputable organisations and had great mentoring along the way in administration he just needs to stay in his lane and adopt a more conservative long term strategic approach until we can stack some more wins via quality recruitment and ultimately on field success

I think this is all due to a lack of signings and leaks where all going bonkers. we all want to talk about signings and recruitment but there is simply nothing to talk about
Yes it is but what do people honestly expect?

There's no club footy now until at least Feb 2023 and all the top-tier players are in the UK anyway, so there will be very little movement of rep-level players until Christmas, possibly even January (the WC Final is 20/Nov/22).

And that's generally true anyway, even outside of the representative calendar, where deals cannot be done for the under-contract players until after Nov 1. October is always a ghost town.

And even then, most teams would be lucky to sign half a dozen new players per year, which averages out to one every 2 months. And then within that subset of new players, few of them in the off-season would be immediate signings for 2023 (i.e. available or released to have an impact on the 2023 season).

Consider that Jackson Hastings signed with Tigers in April 2021 and didn't play a match for us until nearly 12 months later. Stefano signed in Nov 2019 and couldn't take the field until 2021.

So whilst I check the forum very regularly, that is only to be caught up on any latest news, not to froth or complain or get agitated about the lack of news.

Do we dare to dream of signing Tom and Jake from manly?
I reckon they'll stay at Manly however... Tommy at FB, Laurie and Brooks in the dual 5/8th roles with Hastings as first receiver/organiser and Api at 9... Now that's some sort of spine.

Doueihi in the centres with Naden, Papalii and Blore on the edges, with Jake, Stefano and possibly Klemmer in the middle. Plus Joe O and the others off the bench... we have a team.

Tigers and Dolphins would be the only two teams able to fit them into the cap (and I guess the sombrero wearers can always fit more rep player in). TT seems to play 50% of the time, but it's at 9/10 level. JT plays, I'm guessing, 90% of the time at 8/10. We would make the finals most years with these two added to the roster. Would be especially nice if Manly kicked in a little coin too. Dreams are free, right?
They were quoted as saying they didn’t want to waste the last few years of their careers.
That rules us out then.

I honestly think it's a great concept and the setup was very minimal and classy. Involves the fans too.

Lightyears away from that embarrassing documentary.

Yeah I thought this was the best ask the boss yet. It was very professional and they didn’t shy away from the tough questions

I enjoyed reading your post and especially the positivity of it. I believe the club has made some significant improvements in the football dept and financially the club is in a strong position due to Pascoe.
