Hastings not any time soon as he is currently overseas.

Situation with Brooks has taken a turn in the last couple days, with his management informing the club he intends to sign with Knights from 2024 after November 1. Clearly a move to make things happen earlier in 2023. Some at the club believe this could be a move to get an official extension presented. Fast moving situation, expected to come to a head in the week.

Should be noted Sheens want's to keep Brooks & is keen to coach him, but obviously if he signs for 2024 best off releasing him now.

Doubt he would publically back a,player so staunchly if he knew he was going to sign somewhere else - not a good look for Sheens or the club.

Whoever said something along the lines of: “only the tigers would sign away madden then lose brooks” what’s next weeks lotto numbers??

It looked that way and sounded that way but the situation changes. I'm pretty upbeat about this. It appears decisions are being made even if it is the players making those decisions.

We need some changes.

I posted something very similar the other day Sheens is hardly going to downplay wanting to hold on to Brooks. He wants to have his best hand at the negotiating table whether that be by extension ala Lawrence style or a negotiated exit.

Wasn't Rothfield suggesting only a couple of months ago that Brooks was on $1.1M next year?

My take is they've paid top dollar and we wouldn't. So Sheens is thinking 600ik per season whereas he gets a million next year plus Newcastle are paying 900k for several years on top of that.

To me it's a classic example of not getting into the bidding war because it's not worth it.

Agreed but I don't know what will happen. Do you ? It appeared to me Brooks was staying but the news yesterday seemed like there was a good chance Brooks was gonski and the POM today basically confirmed it.

Maybe a better way to phrase this is asking is the following spine good enough for us:-

Danny Levi is off to the Raiders, Rua will get his shot. Nu Brown I don't expect to be at the club, his management came to us twice for a upgrade on the contract he was offered & the club wouldn't budge. If Brooks leave I see Hastings going to 7, but Sheens thinks he's an outright 13.

Thanks @THE_POM I wonder given the current situation whether TS could see Jake Clifford as a reform project like Scott Prince. Clifford has the talent & immense kicking game, just needs someone like Sheens/Benji/Farah to harness it.
