Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I agree with you.
Wests Tigers all the way through.
We need to distance ourselves from the putrid stench that is Balmain and Western Suburbs football clubs.
Yes and that stench is damaging our club.I even read that when decision was taken to name the Flegg side Wests Tigers that a die hard director in Ashfield resigned in protest .I wish a few more dinosaurs would resign also

Article is a few days old and seems to speculation from the writer but let's hope the wheels are turning on an exit for Gildart as it suggests.

Gildart ex wigan
Bateman currently at Wigan

Can smell another swap brewing

I completely agree. I started supporting the Magpies when I was about 6 or 7, and love them to this day. But if someone is 25 or under, they weren't alive or don't remember the Balmain Tigers or Western Suburbs Magpies, only the Wests Tigers.

Are you suggesting Balmain and Wests supporters are heading the way of the Tassie Tiger?😁

hardly a dinosaur. I'd say you are referring to Mick Lubinskas who played with both Wests and Balmain. people on here always whingeing about no football nous on the board. And yes from reports he did resign over naming issues and has put his talents totally to Wests Ashfield and the Magpies.

You would think AD & Farah would be in his ear alot at the RLWC as well.
It's a hard sell...

But I'm sure Uncle Benny would want him at the Tigers too. He always refers to us as "his" club.

I'm a fan of Moses.
If we had him at 7, i reckon it wouldn't matter who we had at 6 as Moey should be the shot caller.

My preference would obviously be AD tho.

I'm not saying these people are good ,bad or indifferent .What I'm saying is that to some the Magpies or Balmain futures are more important than the Wests Tigers future . I'm also saying that Wests Tigers find it very difficult to attract stars to the club . If either of these statements incorrect tell me .

You don’t need people on the board with football nous, you need people with business knowledge.
Same as Souths Rorters Broncos etc.
The football department should have the football brains.

You are drawing a long bow to say that we can't attract players because our lower grades and some juniors play under the banner of Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers. There is no proof whatsoever that that is the case. I find it impossible to believe any player when offered good coin to play NRL would weigh up what our junior sides are called before he makes a decision.

Incorrect. Jason Taylor told him that he was a reserve grader and would only play when his baby boy Jordan Rankin was injured. JAC didn't particularly want to leave Sydney at the time but wasn't really given an opportunity.

Taylor is probably the worst thing that ever happened to the club
That's baloney and I'll repeat the sequence of events again, for about the 10th time.

Jason Taylor was head coach in 2015 when Tigers scouted JAC from Sharks Toyota Cup. You are trying to argue that the head coach who oversaw a junior signing wanted to keep him in reserve grade? Baloney.

JAC played 4 FG games prior to signing with Melbourne, and they announced him the day after his 4th appearance. He played rounds 7, then 11-13 before signing with Melbourne. JAC went on to play another 9 matches, which again is fairly considerable for a guy that apparently the head coach thought was a reserve-grader.

Furthermore Rankin played in 7/9 matches that JAC played, including the first 3 (i.e. JAC was not a Rankin injury replacement).

So your recount of events is custard.

Manly have tabled flyer Reuben Garrick a bumper four-year deal which comes with a surprise positional switch.

The Sea Eagles will also flatly reject any bid for Garrick to be released early from his deal to join Newcastle next year.

The Sea Eagles have shown their intent in trying to make Garrick a key part of their long-term future as they try and starve off an approach from the Knights.

In doing so they will shift Garrick from wing to centre next season.

It is understood the Sea Eagles tabled the four year deal last week.

Manly boss Tony Mestrov confirmed Garrick was a priority re-signing.

“We’ve offered him a strong four year deal which would match any offer the Knights give him,” Mestrov said. “He wants to play fullback and obviously with Tom at Manly he can’t do that.

“However our offer is with the intention of playing Garrick at centre. He will play in the centres. He played all his junior representative football at centre. He is also an amazing goal-kicker which adds to the need to keep him.”

When asked if the club would entertain a release Mestrov simply said: “We won’t be releasing him”. (DT)
Wonder what their thoughts are on keeping Brad Parker?
