A lot of the island boys don’t know how to draw and pass. They are brought up on power footy, use your strength to break the line and score. If not take the tackle.
And they do score plenty, but blow a lot as well.

The game against Norths I think, back in the day, Jimmy Jack lost a tooth which he found on the pitch and slipped it into the fold of his sock - he then fielded a line drop out and proceeded to score a try. 🦷🧦🤣

The best fullback ever , before Billy and Teddy changed the game,

Way better defender & positional play than Billy(not hard) but not as quick obviously. But i think the in modern game most "fullbacks "( Sloan, Campbell, Savage etc) are good with the ball in hand but lack the positional play & defense that makes a true fullback . Teddy is probably the best fullback I have seen with the most complete all round game , followed by Edwards, Treboevic & Paps.

Definitely top 5 for mine. It took Belcher on the end of a very successful Raiders backline to dislodge Jack who was the incumbent. There were other great fullbacks like Shearer, Ridge and I am sure I am forgetting a few but Jack had the best all round game I have seen. Jonathan Docking was another I really liked to watch play.

Jack didn't mind a kicking duel either.

Weren’t kicking duels the dumbest thing ever. Go play AFL you wankers!

I grew up in Birchgrove.
A Balmain TIger since 1950 then 50 years later I found my team was no longer the Balmain Tigers but due to the
NRL ISSUING A DIRECTIVE TO WEST AND BALMAIN, WE HAD TO AMALGAMATE AS THE WEST TIGERS.
I, like most Balmain boy's & Gal's we were very happy with this outcome as west were always our second team anyway,
and in these last 23 years ive always been very happy that my team was now the West Tigers. And I resent the different team, called WEST PLAYING AS MY TEAM, IT IS NOT, WEST TIGERS IS MY TEAM.
AND lets face the fact that had the Tigers not amalgamated with West and done what
Dennis Fitsgerald of Parramatta wanted.
for the Balmain Tigers to join them, then West's would no longer exist.
Why is it so hard for you west supporters to let go of the past, and accept your team is West Tigers
Not West.

What would you rate in 1980's fullbacks? Top 5 ?

Easily.Limited ball playing ability but as my coach used to say to me ," Son If you stop a try you have scored one". Personal defense, ability to organise the defence from the back & positional play have gone out the window in the modern game. Seriously, alot of " fullbacks" in the NRL today would of been considered wingers in my day.

Gee - I was there it was at night yep LO not Brookie - River end around the 25m mark in our half. I think Manly over powered us cos they knew the pot of gold was at the end of the rainbow.

No I don't think it's good to say, but at the game when you shout out, I say tigers, you say wests, it doesn't matter cause we're the Weststigers 👍after the game we should say Weststigers, I'll be mindful of that in the future 🙂

Thank God for that. 35th+ minute.
Just checked and Jack sued Robert’s for $100k which was a lot of coin back then(1991) but not sure of the outcome.
