It hasn't happened yet and I think Brooks is basically out the door. The Hastings rumor was from that podcast where they go full moron. It could be something they heard in the pub.

The reality is that there is a long time until next season starts and the rosters are going to take some time to figure out.

I wish Brooks well. I think he has been one of our better players. I just think we need a change.

I like Hastings. He has flaws but to me he was pretty close to our best player last season. Joe O was better but Hastings role was much more critical to the team.

Your reputation on here means nothing. Mine is trashed and I still post dribble.

In stating all of that I'm interested in seeing how Brooks goes next year and I'm assuming he will be at Newcastle. I can see Brooks and Ponga being a dangerous halves combination. They are both fast and skillful.

Brooks issue in my opinion has been mostly due to being the main playmaker in our team. He also can come up with poor options at times. It's compounded when he is the guy that is meant to do something special in key moments.

I also think we need Klemmer so hopefully these moves go ahead.

Makes sense if Sheens does not see Hastings as the 7 in 2024, release Hastings early and get Bateman (who apparently may play 13) along with klemmer and Frizell.

Release Hastings to free up cash for Klemmer and Frizell??? Pretty sure they want Brooks who would be a great bargaining chip and give us more room in the salary cap.... 🤔

I think Sheen’s is smart enough to get the best out of players and if he thought Jacko was hogging the ball he’d certainly let him know to stick to the game plan.

Maybe but performances can change how people feel extremely quickly.

Personally I'd play him at 7. It's a matter of if you prefer a ball playing lock leading the team around the park with two running halves outside him or a bigger pack.

I like the idea of the two running halves but will it work over the course of the season.

At this time Hastings will be here in 2023 as a 13. If he were to be released (all speculation) wouldn't the Knights be keen?

He is not even listed in the squad announcement on the website.
 
Doubt it, if it were do you think they would work as assistants together, but the biggest thing for me was Benji telling Robbie to hit Cleary up about coming back to the club.

Nothing is set in stone at this point though is it. We are just reading tea leaves. I agree with your assessment of the messaging right now but Sheens could roll over in his sleep tonight and decide Hastings is the man at 7.

Agreed. If (big if) Hastings were released in 2023, wouldn't the Knights be all over him? If so, wouldn't WTs be asking for Dominic Young in exchange not Tyson Frizzell?
 
Who knows, but maybe Sheens has got his hands on a halfback from the ESL? If they're prepared to pay the transfer fee for Bateman, why wouldnt they also be prepared to pay the transfer fee for a good half?

If they did that it would put a line through all the pluses and minuses of both Brooks and Hastings and start new.
