Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Laurie is just too small IMO. Need a bigger frame at the back.
He actually isn’t a small fullback height wise, I think though most of our team over the last 24mths would make any fullback look ordinary.

I think Laurie hasn’t been as bad as some have said and expect a big year from him if his body holds up. In lower grades he was very attack 1st and we know Madge wasn’t that way inclined.

So with Klemmer in and Hastings gone we still have 27 out of 30 currently secured, leaving 3 more spots to fill for 2023.
Will be interesting to see who fills them.
Bateman hopefully one spot, perhaps a lock or a couple of quality outside backs?

There is enough background noise to suggest further spots will open up in the roster. Considering the $ sought by Doueihi, if a trade can be arranged for a player we need it may be the preferred option.

Possibly right Paws, but starting to wonder where 3 or 4 more “quality” players are going to come from. Would hate to see top 30 spots being filled by the likes of Woods. Still can’t see Moses or Dylan Brown coming to us.
Lenui seems unlikely. Others being bandied around are not necessarily 2023 options.

If he can start trailing through the middle he will climb up the ladder of fullback quality significantly.

Not really an answer.
Brown is also not the answer.
I'd personally select Matamua as I think with the support of the new signings he would have a better chance of finding his feet quickly, mentors of Klemmer, Bateman and Papi with Api giving him clean ball would take the pressure of him.
Brown would come in with an attitude that we don't want or need.
Didn't we publicly state we were a development club? Matumua fits that sales pitch.
