TV for NRL

Hi all, AV geek forums can't answer NRL questions like my people here.

For NRL on Kayo, has anyone gone from a good plasma to an oled and noticed an improvement?

It seems like anything under 4k res and without hdr is likely to just as good, with better motion tracking, on my panasonic plasma than a new LG oled?

Would love opinions from others who've made the switch

I just went out of my way to repair my Panasonic plasma for superior motion tracking.

Have a OLED computer screen which has fantastic contrast but inferior refresh rate imo.

Has it failed or do you want a change?

Black Friday tricked me into buying haha, got an LG G2 under 3k, but thinking of cancelling prior to delivery as it is a lot of coin when footy is one of the main use cases. What you're saying is exactly what I'm worried about.

Keep the fan vents clean in back.

Mosfets overheating on SC PCB are weak spot.

I look after mine, they are hard to top.

Plasma refresh rate in excess of 800HZ.

I had the Panasonic viera plasma and thought the picture was good until I got the Samsung 65” QLED 4K tv

Not a true OLED but for under 2k it’s great .. No complaints

Plasmas are diabolical for power consumption and also bake the room in summer .. good in winter though.

Thanks mate, the price on this thing is part of the problem when I'm happy with 95% of what I watch.

The yanks all say their plasmas are better for nfl, and most of the time they are just standing there having a scratch with sfa happening

When I first purchased the LED I thought the motion was like 90% of the plasma tv but after a while you get used to it and for general tv / movie viewing the LED shits on the plasma imo

I think oled is generally considered better picture BUT worse for motion, a bit different to LED.

Also do you have fox 4k? I only have kayo which doesn't do 4k.

I'd suggest getting QLED or equivalent if you have an open style area and the light source can't be controlled, i.e. too much sunlight. With sports I think the important thing is frequency as like 150-200 Hz from memory is very good to make the picture quality smoother.

We consume a lot of media these days so make sure your apps like Prime, Netflix, YouTube etc are already downloaded and there is ChromeCast. I think it's worth investing a bit more in a good TV simply because of the amount of content we consume these days. I still wouldn't invest in 4k or 8k etc because literally none of the content I consume is available in 4k.

Also pay attention to TV size if you have a smaller room. Don't get more than 65" or so if your couch is only 2-2.5m from the TV

Yeah my mate has Kayo ..
Poor man’s Foxtel
I downloaded it when the Lebanon trial match was exclusive, game was free on there though - no subscription necessary

Was budget quality.
Wasn't impressed.

I believe the fox sports package is the same price as kayo a month.

Easy choice tbh

I've got a LG Oled.
It's 2 years old now. I'm very happy with it.
When I was looking to buy one.. the LG seemed better than the other brands (to me) viewing them in store at Bing Lee.
Even with the 65" LG Oled's. There was a range of options. The cheapest were approx. $2K and they went up to $5K. I got one with the fastest processor for about $4.5K.

As Demps said it's only as good as the what's being broadcast.
If your watching standard definition TV channel or a poor quality stream it doesn't matter how higher quality TV you have it will still look average.

If you search to 4K movies on Netflix or something of the like. They look fantastic.
