Some people on here seem to know more than a coach that’s won 4 premiership, and has been coaching for 30 old years.

Everything we say on here is from listening or reading media and is either hearsay or opinion.
So based on that we can form our own opinions and that's about it really.
When something happens for real, we then judge and start the whole cycle again...long live the forum because what we say changes the way the world operates 🤣

Agreed , we also getting the same comments about our young forwards coming throw , they like the backs have done nothing , POLE is the only one who looks the goods . Yet plenty on here don’t want experience forwards like Nathan brown who would fill a important roll over the next two years while the kids sort themselves out . We need hard heads to drag our poor club out of this crap so players will want to come without us having to pay massive overs , the kids will get there chance , but it’s like building a house u need a good foundation to start with .

Surely by now it's apparent that we don't need "hard heads" or "veteran leadership" or players who will be "good for the culture" - we've tried that with Ballin, and Tamou, and Matulino, and Packer, and on and on. We need "good football players", which at this stage there is serious doubt over Nathan Brown's ability to be. Spend the money elsewhere, ie on anyone in the squad with a low number on their back.

This isn't a great argument though. It's the good old appeal to authority argument. It's the same as people knowing more than Madge or whoever.

The truth is we won't know how everything works out until next season.

Sheens is fallible. I remember Johhny "Cronk" Morris and Danny Galea at prop.

At this time of year everything is looking good. There are going to be some tough decisions to be made next year from the coaching staff and some tough times. It's going to be interesting how they perform.

You're only as good as your last win. Sheen's last Australian win was probably his court case against the club.

I'm as hopeful as the next supporter that Sheens is the chosen one to lead the club to success but the reality is he has been out of the NRL for a decade, has a history of questionable choices and lets not forget that he was at least second choice behind a rookie Penrith assistant coach. I get blind faith but the way some of you carry on I fully expect Sheens to turn water into Gatorade on his first session.

It was okay to question Madge and every coach before him? We can't question the almighty Sheens who's last coaching gig was with Widnes?

Matamua looks like a great prospect aswell, just young and needs to learn how to curb his aggression. He will get it sorted in time.

My joy at Sheens coming back isn't so much for the onfield success over the next two years. He is a club builder, it's all the things he does behind the scenes, creating the pathways, unearthing talent and generally coming in and running the club. We can all agree not everyone in our system who he promoted to grade worked out. But there's no denying a vast amount of the elite nrl talent now running around in the nrl came from the pathways created by Sheens the last time he was here. If we kept the cream of our best juniors from the last time Sheens was here we would have a rep side.
Maguire had the lads playing above their ability no doubt and he seems like a real stoic great guy. But he doesn't compare to Sheens in his ability to unearth and promote talent through pathways. Nor did he have the aura about him to run the club that Sheens has.

We need tradesmen type players, no frills who get the job done, like Heighno and Liam Fulton

I sure as hell hope that somewhere in that centre of excellence there is a section where some journos articles and opposing fans tweets are hung up for the players to see.

Posts predicting them to win the spoon, or how bad they are, real personal criticism telling them that everyone expects nothing from them.

I hope they run past that everyday and take it in on a personal level so that to add to all the training they are doing, the skills sessions, the defensive work etc, that they are driven to prove a point on an individual basis.

Motivation, fire in the belly and the desire to be better than the next bloke is 50% of what will take this team off the bottom of the ladder.

When you mention our young forwards coming through, why no mention of Stefano 33 games and Shawn 18 games?
These two were great additions by Maguire. If you exclude the 3 games totalling 11 minutes off the bench for Eels both got their start at WT. couple of legends in the making there!

I remember Geyer was asked on radio "a few years back" if he was to manage one kid coming through who would it be, he said BLORE...

Exactly. It's about correcting where the club has gone wrong not great coaching on game day

There are boxer’s and there are brawlers. There are footballers’s and there are athletes. My analogy. In my team I want brawlers / footballers as opposed to atheletes / boxers! Anyone referred to an a great athlete can go play elsewhere! Would not pay big bucks for them. Something to think about?

He was not in the race for the coaching job. When our preferred coach went elsewhere , Wests asked him if he would be interested and he agreed for a couple of years. Sheens is great at bringing juniors through. It will be interesting watching both coaches this year.

Maguire is a premiership coach, but comparing his time at WT with that of a coaching legend like Tim Sheens who is yet to coach a single game, is unfair. To start with Maguire arrived facing a club in big trouble. The CEO and previous Coach feuding and unhappy boardroom which spilt over to a lack of support to Maguire, who battled to balance a cap in terrible shape while being undermined by the board.
The thing to remember about Maguire's tenure is that he left the club in much better shape than he found it and that's his legacy.
Sheens otoh has 2 years to build on Maguires legacy, with a much easier run, particularly in terms of the cap.

There is a lot of attention given to Sheens but I just read this article and apologise if it has been posted before. Marshall's comments are poignant and his referral to team bonding is imo significant. It is always interesting to read the thoughts of our next coach so WTs (and its supporters) are in a very interesing position.

Because stefano is already a 1st grader , while blore is in the unknown bunch having not played for nearly two years . I don’t think that take much working out

I am sure that players like KLEMMER , api , Bateman and papa will be in his ear all the time passing on there experience

He has the key word potential.

In an honest not hopeful assessment on his 22 nrl run he didn’t show any NRL qualities, he was found out & if anything cost us badly.

Hopefully next few years he progresses and his potential translates into an NRL quality forward but as it stands he is a long way off NRL quality from last years form.
