Best compliment for Stef and Pole has been the difference through the middle with them on/off the field. The only players really in contention for round 1 apart from them would be Kepaoa, Simpkin and Staines.

Talau doesn’t look ready for NRL Round 1.

Kepaoa looks good, better defensively too.

Talau will be reserves for awhile.

I like Kepaoa but I still remember some of the bad defensive reads last year.

Bula is a real prospect.. great positioning and shame we didnt have possession 2nd half, love the way he sniffs around the ruck. Has that change of pace too.

Also has a good athletic frame for the position. Will likely fill out a bit as he ages.

Would have liked to see Feledy and Hill actually get some ball. Bula probably the one, along with these two, who I want to see dominate NSW Cup at some point this year.

Junior Tupou is a guy I'd like to see get an extended run in FG. Neither Nofo or Ken are going to improve much from this point and he can't be far behind them.

Scolari and Ngatakaura disappointing.

pathway system seems all systems go 🤠

There were quite a few young players out there that looked like NRL players but need experience. Faagutu and Feledy in particular did well considering their experience. Bula had an outstanding game when he came on. Tumeth played most of the game and looks to be ready for the NRL. Reilly played well at 5/8 considering what many wrote about him last year. Matamua looks an NRL player as well but it wasn't his night with the passing.

Really shouldn't be looking too much into this trial. Yes, defensive structures were a worry but we won't be getting much insight into this until at least the next trial when more of the FGers are given a go. For now, should just be happy that the players relatively close to the first grade side (e.g. Utoikamanu, Pole, etc) looked great.

Totally outclassed across the park; although some of our forwards can hold their heads up. We didn't do ourselves any favours with the the ball turnover but the intent was there. Just not too many of our passes stuck. Overall it was our errors and our right side defence really let us down.

What really concerned me is our lack of depth at 6, 7 and 9. Although Reilly showed some starch in defence.

What I saw of our fringe 13 wasn't too bad - showed their intent even though the execution was clumsy.

I'm not concerned about the result. It is pre-season and most of the kids out there will go back to junior rep footy to learn their trade. I think is was good for them to get a taste of what FG is about.

Hopefully they can go back and focus on what they need to develop in their games to get to FG standard.

That is not true. These guys may not have the experience and skill of some who weren’t there, but this is a look into our depth. Additionally, it’s an indication of exactly how little we have worked on defensive structures.
That was a weakened Warriors outfit and they easily ran 9 tries in.

I absolutely apologise if that touched a nerve. It was intended purely to highlight panic over a trial, not literally. I have lost someone under those circumstances. Not sure if telling me to cut my own wrists is an appropriate reply though.
