TEAM LIST Pre-season Challenge Round 2 vs. Raiders

Team List
This team seems to indicate Sheens thinking for round 1
With Wakeham sitting in for Brooks (niggle )
With Seyfarth in for Bateman ( that's shows depth problem)
With Twal in for Joffa ? ( where is Joe ?)
With Simpkin in for Api ( whos in cotton wool)

If our best 13 are the team named with the 4 on the right coming in I think its a strong team . The bench should mainly be the hardest working most enthusiastic young ones

Mate it makes clear sense not to name your experienced players when it's only a trial, and especially if they're complaining about a "niggle" (the real reason is sheens is just resting them - why risk them)

I'm more than 100% sure sheens' words to the boys will be
"Go out there, give it your all, have fun, enjoy each others company but don't be a hardout.

Those players are still training in the background tho.

Again it's just another micky mouse trial, nothing at stake absolutely nothing to worry

I think raiders are close to full strength, but hey that's their choice, they're more than likely to pickup few injuries, possibly be without for the start.

Once the season commences, then we are having a totally different convo.

Hope not.

Raiders always a hard game for us though.
I think this year if we get minimal injuries we have a decent side pushing towards spot 7 to 12 as soon as we get injuries to any of AD, Brooks, Api, Klemmer, Papali, Laurie we are in big trouble.
Kind of think we will come out and Ambush gold coast round 1 at LO

Gotta say, this is the funniest post I’ve read today.
Why are you people so scared about injuries in a trial game? You can get injured at training, round 1 or at a backyard birthday party.
We already have some and guess what? It wasn’t the big bad trials.
If your presumed quote from Sheens is accurate, he should be marched out the door. This is professional football.

I'm assuming you mean don't give it yiur all... Don't give 100%

Good way to get injuries

I think Simpkin will come good .
Still very young for a 9,service and defence need to be his priority, which I’m sure he knows .
Hopefully he’s working closely with Api and Robbie.

Last year he was the youngest hooker in the NRL by 2-3yrs.

If he has space with some of our new forwards I want to see him run.
Sure he needs to improve the passing game which I think will come.

Our finishing position will be determined by how many games our top 20 guys play together. If we can get a large portion of our season from this group we’ll be thereabouts.
If not….there’s a big drop off and those weaknesses will equal compound losses.

The passing game should already be there.
It’s bread and butter for a number 9.

All of Stef’s good runs in the trial came off the back of his little darts and short passes.

His long passing from dummy half / creativity just don’t seem there though.

20 minutes off the bench each game when Api is off could be a fine role for him though.

If he doesn’t do anything this year, I’d try to get rid of him.

You could give him a break because of his age before, but he’s at the stage of his career now where he should really start showing something in 2023.

Stop pushing your boundaries.

Agree with your assessment.
If Farah and Api mixed with the upgraded forwards around him can’t get him to step up this year then no one will. Lets see what the kid is made of.

Agree. He needs to fix this up pronto. I can’t understand why he was seen as such an amazing junior when his passing was so sub par. It’s not like he is big/bustling or super fast (his speed is only average imo).

Not the best indication, but last week against the Warriors he looked pretty good taking a scoot.
He’s only 21 ,been thrown in the deep end ,but also looked too good for NSW cup
